I've spent the last 3 months tiling the roof of my new house.

That's 1500 tiles in total, 150 valley tiles cut, and 110 end tiles cut.

Total weight of tiles a little over 6 ton.

All carried up onto the scaffold 2 at a time, an average of a 10 foot climb up the ladder.  Then from there up onto the roof. Allowing for other things up and down, I've climbed that ladder about 1000 times, or an ascent of 10,000 feet up the ladder and back down again, equivalent to climbing 3 Munro's up a ladder.

A total of about 30 days on the roof spread over 3 months.

God do my knees know it. I would not recommend anyone to consider a career as a roofer, it will wear out your body a LOT faster than being an electrician.

£194 pew week, and it's taken me something like 12 weeks in total to do the job = £2328

I tiled it myself because I am short of money....

Mind you the idea of buying a second hand hoist, using it and then selling it wouldn't have been daft.
