Yet another dire warning about using other makes of MCB in board , this time in the ACA Today magazine.

If you do it ,they say, you become resposible for the performance of the assembly in a fault condition .

I suppose they're right but is'nt it annoying , another PITA rule to be concerned about.

Don't fit that MK in the Hager board , we'll have to drive all the way out here tomorrow with a Hager breaker, its only 50 miles.

what about new square d stuff? it all says schnider now, i think there taking over the world, today square d, tomorrow it'll be tescos!

this is unbeleivable, its basically impossible to comply to, there are so many obsolete makes and different brands, how the hell do you get around that? even a newer version of the same brand doesnt allways fit the older boards what we gonna do now fit your own 2way cu everytime you cant find an exact match??

its f'ing rediculous, yet another get out clause to pass the buck onto the installer as usual!

Why dont they make a standard one size fits all MCB across all brands if its such an important issue!! FFS!

My thoughts for years Welchy, a generic breaker , to the relevent BS and made by the existing major firms .

It 'aint rocket science, they all fit dinrail except Starbreaker , all they need do is get the bottom terminal universal, they could have their brand name on it .

Just had a thought , would Hager or MK really want us putting recall MCBs in with theirs ....HHmmmm... 'aint gonna happen is it!!

it just annoys me so much, yet another unrealistic hoop to jump through, im sure no other trade has the situations we regulary have to deal with. These companies infuriate me, instead of tackling the problem and finding a decent solution for the installers of THEIR equipment they just wash ther hands and dictate what we cant do

'Yep you heard it right, were all gonna make our MCBs totally diffrerent to every one elses, and every time we update our existing mcbs they will be different from our old design, but dont you dare try to fit another brand of breaker in our board if it fits well or not as you will then take full responsibility if anything goes wrong and we will not be liable for any blame whatsoever! oh and no we dont still sell our old designs so you can retro fit one to an existing board!'

if they were that concerned they would have a standard breaker design as said above

as long as its a decent fit i really dont see the problem?!

should of been a plasterer!!
