Fitting a new light to replace an old ceiling rose. The new light has no space for all the wires (incoming and outgoing power and the switch) so what's the best way of accommodating them - Wago box above the fitting in the loft? Easy enough to do as it isn't boarded at that point. Any other...
Just checked it and no it isn't - ceiling height is 2.35m. Assumed it was as I could easily touch the rose from standing in the bath and I'm only 5ft 8" but having measured the height it is outside the zone. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks for the reply Geoff, and yes this is in England. Is that for all of the work, or parts of it? I've always assumed (maybe wrongly?) that I am permitted to replace a light fitting in a bathroom.
A family member is having some upgrades to his bathroom in his new home - new bath and mixer shower, plasterboard, tiling etc. However this has unearthed a few electrical problems. In the past someone has removed a shaver socket or light fitting on the wall, chocblocked the ends and wrapped them...
The cabinets are 900mm high, and the cable with the plug on it has another connection to the light and is nowhere near long enough, so I would need to buy an extended cable. The lights do come with cables for daisy chaining them so I can easily fit the ones under the long run of cabinets, but...
Many thanks for the replies. The old lights were fed from a double socket above the old cabinets, so I have dropped cables down behind the new cabinets from there.
Will fit a 3 amp fuse to that plug. I have seen these Wagoboxes at Screwfix would they be OK or is there anything better suited?
Have bought some LED cabinet striplights, and they came fitted with a 3 pin plug. Bit bulky for under the wall cabinets so what is a good slim replacement for connecting to the supply cable?
Thanks - things have moved on a bit as management has decided we should have a new oven and hob. I have a couple of questions and have put them here as I'm not sure this is the place for such stuff - only just joined the forum so still trying to find my way round!
As part of a kitchen upgrade I now have a new double oven and hob to install. Total power consumption for the new oven is 4.2kW, and for the new hob 6kW. The oven manufacturer recommends a minimum 25A MCB and the hob manufacturer states that a 25A MCB must be fitted.
Both units specify 2.5mm...
That makes sense. Got the oven out and it is 6mm T&E. As to the amount of free cable, I undid the mounting screws and there was about an inch of movement before it became tight! Whoever had installed it had fitted the oven in the cabinet, pulled all the spare cable through the back of the...
