I had the same problem, check the settings, you'll probably find it's doing an antivirus check automatically on start up. Change the schedule so it only runs once a week! Regards, Joel

Sounds to me like a malware infection... try downloading AdAware and running that.... makes a huge difference on machines which have spent a lot of time online.

Just a thought, but you could try AdAware too.... it's great for protecting your pc when online....

AVG is superb.... can't recommend it highly enough.... a little while ago a pc mag did some research and found AVG top.... most secure, most easy to use.... Can't knock it!
