Maybe, I only do offshore work now and most of that is on machines rather than electrical installation so probably a waste of time for me, and, if required the company generally pay for it. So unless I could get a proper VAT receipt it would possibly be a non starter, sorry :(
In my views it matters NOT what is in the main fuse and sealed in place. If it says 100a YOU TAKE IT AT THAT. Its the way I was trained and the way we should think. 'assuming' its not 100a when it states it is is not a good idea.
You have to make provisions for what it 'could' be!
That is also...
1. I refuse to fit in lathe as the bloody ceiling tends to fall to bits or is too deep to hold the fittings
2. I only fit fire rated now as the council in this area insist on these, especially in new builds. I even go as far as to buy fire hoods for IP rated fittings.
3. IF you really want the...
Do a proper course, these kind of courses mean nothing and wont help you.
If you are a kitchen installer and want to take on sparks work, you would be best doing a Part P in England. EAL course, recognised by the NICEIC etc.. Therefore you can even join the NICEIC as a domestic installer.
300mm
Just finished a new build, installed everything as per the drawings .... what happens? The kitchen installer decided to move the sink and is now only 98mm from the damn sink!
UNBELIEVABLE!
Had asked this already last week, I was bemused that the NICEIC were stating if you replce a broken fitting, swap a light fitting it then had to be within the 17th spec!
All that was going through my mind was the huge loss of work as customers would simply go to someone that was prepared NOT...
Your link is INCORRECT? You can now have sockets AND switches in a bathroom providing they are outside zone 3 which means a pretty big bog. Also must have the respective RCD's fitted :)
I would scan the documentation I have just received which clearly states a stanley knife of similar, hell rewiring a rig which I presume is mainly SWA it is a 100% requirement.
Its possible that as we are rewiring a rig and not permanent staff this is the reason, I have no idea. I can...
I wuld contact the NICEIC? Their minimum joining criteria is a basic 17th edition city and guilds but they do normally ask you have a 2391 (testing) under your belt.
TBH I would say most companies would accept you as you are :) However if a guy with more qualifications comes along you may be...
Hi guys, just about to start offshore, any offshore sparks on here?
Not actually working on rig equipment, been contracted by an agency to rewire a OPERATIONAL rig in stages with a maintenance company?
Expect a lot of SWA and 3 phase?
The mind boggles!
