Just another quicky here while we are on cctv , I have 2 more Camera's to put up , can they be all linked to one cable somehow or do I have to do a separate cable through the house wall to my Router for each Camera  ! . cheers Spike

Yes I understood cat 6 was good for 100m , so I am well withing that range ,Pro Dave may have something there about the Router configuring itself for that length of cable . Maybe I should just leave it connected overnight and see what it is like in the morning , I am nearly 100% ( nearly ) sure...

Rob. , Just ordered one , yes it has a ip address , it can be pinged when it is in range of the house wi-fi , but not as far as the garage , that is why I have put in a cable . cheers Spike

Yes I have done that , that is how I shorted the pairs , a short lengh of cable with a crimp on , connected into the socket at one end ,  then twisted the pairs together , done a continuity test at the other  end socket .

Have tested direct from the back of each socket at the connector to the wire ! .

Andy™ , Yes could of put them the wrong way round ,but not crossed otherwise I would not of got a circuit shorting each pair at one end . each ethernet socket connector is colour coded , so pretty easy to follow at both ends . cheers Spike
