Extending battery array - levelling charge

Here's the cable pack that tradesparky have just started listing which consists of 2x16mm2 power cables and the data cable. Just what I need to connect my 4th battery in parallel to th inverter via my busbars...

Extending battery array - levelling charge

Well I'm in limbo because tradesparky where I bought the battery from have told me that the cable pack listed on the thread above which I was about to buy is not the correct one, and that they promise to list the correct one for me soon. In the meantime lr-renewables had a picture showing what...

    Electrician training

Hi Can anyone suggest some online training which would provide some formal certification for basic electrical work. I am not looking to pursue a career as an electrician, or do any commercial work. I have good general skills and knowledge, but would like to formalise my understanding, fill in...

    Batteries with solar edge SE3500H

    Wow, that's a first!

    Batteries with solar edge SE3500H

Yes thanks. And if I'm understanding correctly, then this is probably completely independent of the existing system. Essentially just another appliance connected into the AC switchboard. So the existing system will have no bearing or restrictions for the choice of AC coupled battery... I think.

    Batteries with solar edge SE3500H

Doesn't look like what? They need a second inverter? I don't think this is a hybrid inverter, so I assume they need an AC coupled setup. Right? And that needs another inverter doesn't it? One other thing - they have a FIT tariff, and I think this means their FIT meter is on the AC side of their...

    AC vs DC Coupling

Ok possibly lots of answers here: https://electricianforum.co.uk/threads/dc-vs-ac-batteries-pros-and-cons.55011/ Locked to prevent being resurrected (again)

    AC vs DC Coupling

Ok, so what's the disadvantage of an AC coupled battery? Is it just efficiency? Am I right that li-ion batteries are always DC, so does that mean an AC coupled battery involves its own rectifier/inverter to charge/discharge with AC? And presumably this is inefficient and expensive?

    Batteries with solar edge SE3500H

Hi, This post is on behalf of my parents who have a solar edge SE3500H inverter. They are wondering whether they can add batteries. I'm not familiar with their setup, but I'm wondering if anyone has advice on what battery options they may have, and whether for example it would likely be an AC...

Extending battery array - levelling charge

Thanks again for your thoughts. What's the difference between a Henley block and one of these 300A BusBar Boxes: https://amzn.eu/d/9NiJCAw, which is what I have? I could retain the existing 3way connection, but I'm not sure the point if I just connect the 4 batteries individually into the...

Extending battery array - levelling charge

Thanks. Presumably I could bote a couple of extra holes in the gland. I already have the busbars, but could return these if your suggestion is cheaper/better/simpler/necessary. Unless there's a reason not to, I'd probably just stick with my plan using the bus bars. Do you have a link to the...

Extending battery array - levelling charge

Good shout. So 4 x 16mm2 into 2 x 25mm2 into the positive terminals on the inverter, and the same for the negative. The "Two Holes" gland currently takes a single positive and single negative 25mm2 cable, I'm not sure I can get 4 x 25mm2 cables in this (2 for positive and 2 for negative), even...

Extending battery array - levelling charge

See attached SPH6000 inverter instructions. There is only one battery terminal on the inverter.

Extending battery array - levelling charge

So no, three batteries were installed by the installer and I'm looking to add a fourth. Thank you for raising the point about connections. This is hopefully the last thing I'm looking to get absolute clarity on before proceeding. You're right that the existing three batteries connect together...
