Best way to find a short circuit between L and N? I.e a tripping MCB.

add to that are there some lights that looks brand new and just installed, complete with all red into one terminal & all black into another, despite never been touched by them and have always worked until yesterday?

    Solar/battery calculations

sounds like a big enough place that no matter what you generate, it will be used. so rather than focusing only on the pumps & trying to charge batteries to run them when there is no sun, just fit the most PV you can that'll supply everything. if it gets to the point you are generating more solar...

How do we find out if our building has rising mains?

see if you can look at the meters of the others. im certain this is a standard looped supply, supply comes in from road into downstairs, then continues to upstairs. very common and almost always DNO's responsibility. usually if there is an issue and cables need replaced they will often put a new...

How do we find out if our building has rising mains?

kinda as i expected. in which case there is no BNO. its simply the DNO's cable and their responsibility for them. if there's a fault with the cable then its upto DNO to sort it at their cost if there is a cupboard soemwhere and the supply splits to each property, then its completely different

How do we find out if our building has rising mains?

not always. depends who is responsible for the supply cable, which varies, and if you answered my previous question you'd get a better answer

How do we find out if our building has rising mains?

does the cable supplying each property come directly from the street to each individual flat or does it go to a cupboard and then to each flat?
