Distribution Circuit cables buried in walls

Hi All I have got to quote for a distribution circuit to a garage Cu. My Question is if you bury the cables in the wall how can you provide the 30mA protection required for that cable and still achieve discretion because the garage board will also have a 30mA RCD. Do you just provide the 30mA...

    2 rings from one fuse

Thanks for the replys. I think i'll put it in the comments and explain it to them. Slightly off topic i'm pretty sure it has 1mm cpc. r1 = 0.71ohms r2 = 1.76ohms 0.71 * 2.5 = 1.775ohms When did the 1mm cpc go out and does any one know what conditions it could be problematic. I know theres a...

    Slightly high r2

I haven't done the Zs tests yet just joined the cables together to make sure i've got cont before putting the ceiling up and hiding the JBs. All the walls need plastering yet. Done R1 + R2 though which was 0.39ohms. which is what i would have been expecting if r2 reading was correct in relation...

    Slightly high r2

Centre section of the ring had been removed by a previous "electrician" because of a damaged cable in the wall i believe, spliting the ring in two! Wires were just terminated in two of the sockets! So i wasn't able to r2 test. No i havent replaced it all theres a lot thats inaccessable under...

Zs of Lighting spured from ring

Been thinking some more about this this morning and i came to the conclusion that as long as the measured Zs past the FCU is still within the reqirements ie 1.16ohms then fault protection will still be provided by the 32A MCB and Overcurrent by the fuse in the FCU. All seems so much clearer the...

Zs of Lighting spured from ring

Thanks guys. How would this be recorded on the EIC as although its kind of treated as a different circuit its also the same circuit?

Zs of Lighting spured from ring

Hi, i did a cu change today where the garage has been converted into a room and the lighting has been taken from the ring via FCU. My question is, do you use the Zs upto the the FCU for the MCB for that circuit as norm, then relate the Zs past the FCU to the fuse in the FCU as thats what...

    Main Earth Conductor

I've done the calculation again this time using t = 0.01 which is more realistic for an pefc of 3.2kA than the 0.1 which is the min BRB Ap 3 goes down to and got a result of 2.2mm2. So it looks like the 6mm would be fine:put the kettle on Any comments?
