    Missing consumer unit cover

Is it ? I don't understand how ? It isn't immediately dangerous, and it's hardly an exposed conductive part with the lid on, and manufacturers instructions says isolate DB before removing front cover, so I wouldn't even c3 it.

    new job

4 circuits though ? I dont think I've ever wired a house with just 4 circuits, I'm not having a go now, I know you have to do it regardless, because you need the experience, I'm just curious what a one day rewire gets me for my money, how much do they charge ? If you know ? I don't do much...

    new job

If I'm counting right, is that 4 circuits? Or 5 if smokes are on there own? Are they iterlinked ? And do you do 2 way switching ? It's hard for me to get my head round how its done in a day, you must all have a massive work ethic, quick job or not, especially if its lived in and u have to move...

    new job

How many circuits Gavin ? If I was rewiring in a 3 up 2 down standard house I would included; lighting x2, 3x ring - 3 points per room (kitchen on plan), shower, cooker, smokes, boiler and burglar alarm. Just wondering how much u get done on a day? it takes me 3 unoccupied.

    new job

Nothin personal, but these companies take work away from better contractors that would do a good job of it, and they devalue the work we do by putting in ridiculous prices. As above, you obviously energise untested circuits. I know it's not you, it's the people you work with/for. The sooner...

    new job

You can't rewire a house in a day and do a good job, simple as. I bet any house you've done hasn't seen a clip. I suppose they're all tested as well, Probably from the van.

    RCBO Tripping

Probably a long shot, but when u did your ir test, did you test with the earths still connected in the earth terminal (with main bonding ect all still connected) my reasoning for saying this is that you could have a neutral to earth fault ( say a screw through a metal stud wall) that would show...

Have to admit I was expecting better, it's a joke we still don't get full Siri capabilities! Seems like they've run out of ideas !

max load of 10mm and 16mm armoured

Yeah Steve3948 makes a really good point, sure you haven't go your wires crossed ? That would be a reasonable explanation . The biggest I've ever used is also 63A 3ph

max load of 10mm and 16mm armoured

If you gave the length of run and type of swa - PVC or xlpe , installation method it wouldn't take 5 mins to work out and earthing arrangements but I'm assuming it's a tn system

max load of 10mm and 16mm armoured

Your obv, doing the right thing and have enough about you to question what your told, I don't mean to be to harsh

max load of 10mm and 16mm armoured

It's a 100A per phase, but you really should know that if your undertaking the work, are you just doing the run like a labourer or are u connecting and testing ? Because it doesn't sound like either of you should be designing or signing the job off

    Delayed action fault

Interesting fact about squirrels ..... They have a very thick layer of enamel on their teeth, effectively insulating them from the live cable they are gnawing through. Also I once opened a loft hatch to have one run full pelt at me...., I fell off my steps trying to get away :( lol

    P.E mag morons

Anybody read 'Hot stuff' in the letters section ? Apparently a 2.5 mm t&e has 100A running through it, because it's connected directly to the 1361 main cut out . Then he says ' from the main cut out to a fuse spur ....... Which has a 13 A fuse in it !' - Like a 2.5 can't handle 13A lol...

    3 phase?

Unless its split concentric and u don't count the other sleeves conductors as cores ?
  18. S

    3 phase?

I'd be more inclined to think it was a two core cable .....

    Gaining more experience.

The principle is still the same, the only big difference is the containment. You just need the experience.
