Domestic fire alarm with fault outputs

Remote monitoring purposes only. Will not operate anything in particular. Will look into Kidde "surface pattress with relay", fire condition is one of the options I want monitoring.

    T&E in conduit?

There's a good reason they do that. I've seen on a few sites T&E or FP inside conduits so it looks neat where visible to the eye, then as soon as it gets up in the ceiling it runs on a basket, to go to a DB or wherever needed. That is something you can't do with singles. Singles will need...

Domestic fire alarm with fault outputs

Can anyone suggest a wired, mains powered domestic fire alarm or mini commercial fire alarm system which in event of fault will activate a volt free output? Need to monitor kitchen through a heat detector and 4 smoke heads. And if possible with either self-clearing capabilities when fault...

    Ring main return cable route

OK, good observation, there's no socket there which means it's not a safe zone. What's way round that?

In new builts with open ceilings that's a fair point to do vertical drop downs, otherwise you're creating a lot of work.

I am designing it. I meant if I could I would have fitted a 4mm radial but that's going to be even worse when I come back to pick up the rest of the sockets as I'd have a 4mm twin and earth in the metal box instead of 2.5mm in case of a ring.

    Ring main return cable route

From your days things have evolved. There are generally 2 types of electricians Commercial and Housebashers. To be a housebasher you don't even need to be an electrician, you don't even need an ECS card but you have to know the zones and wiring a two way switch is the most complicated circuit...

Maybe the angle in the picture is not right but how does that make it outside the safe zones? The regs do specify zones where the chasing is plaster surface depth. The hole you see where cables go is 60mm from edge, and it's the center of the drylining wall.

That brings up another point. Since the capping with either plastic or paper thin metal capping protects cables only from plasterer's trowel and will not protect from nails or screws going through and that's why the 30mA RCD protection now days is mandatory. That means the plasterer has no...

Valid points. Just for the entertainment as you mentioned Mr DIY, I found this burried in the wall, previous ring was extended in 1.5mm cable

Thinking about it, that's ok to do in plastic conduit but will stick to the traditional expected method twin and earth

I have two points which will be on a drylining wall in the same room, could use those for USB sockets. And everywhere else where it possible will use 35mm deep boxes.

That I did consider but read quite a bit of stuff as ring is the most accepted method. I myself would have preferred the radial

It's an overkill of a job tubing. Standard is twin and earth in house installations

Good pointers. Will do that and well spotted there's 5mm gap between the wall surface and box edge.
