Post has been ammended, the important thing to remember is, as ADS said that the live supply polarity is confirmed before energising the system.
This can be done using a suitable voltage tester, this includes the Robin EFLI tester, which gives confirmation of live supply polarity by its two...
Hi ADS, I have been thinking about your reply to my post, and you are right in so far as, the system should be tested for live supply polarity before the system is energised.
The system does not become energised until the PSCC test, prior to this you do the Ze and the PEFC tests non energised...
Hi Admin, appreciate the advice, because I did exactly as I was taught, I passed.
Live supply polarity can be confirmed during the Ze and PEFC test by the 2 green neon lights on the Robin EFLI tester, this is done before the system is energised for the PSCC test, this is the procedure adopted...
Hi Admin, I totally agree with what ADS has said, I have already corrected the post, and am in the process of informing all viewers of the post before correction by PM.
Yes thanks for the advice, I am just trying to give an idea of what to expect and what I have been taught in respect of the 2392 practical, I am sure there will be conflicting methods and teaching practices across the country, thanks once again (Meerkat) :)
Hi Marc, max demand should be calculated using Table 1B OSG, my tutor told me it was the rating of the service head cut out fuse, I dont agree with that personally. As my tutor did my 2392 assessment, I put the service head cut out fuse rating in the max demand box, knowing that is what he would...
Yes exactly the same rig, regarding max demand, depends which book you read, some say it should be calculated using the tables in OSG page 97 under individual dwellings, our tutor told us it is the service cut out fuse rating, personally I think it should be calculated using OSG.
I make it...
Hi Madeinengland live "supply polarity", can be checked and verified by the 2 green lights illuminating on the earth loop test meter or the 2 red lights on the RCD tester (Robin) Live "polarity" is tested at the end of all tests with all covers on by switching all MCB's the Rcd and the DP...
Hi Madeinengland, I thought it was
lighting 66 % of demand (6) = 4 Amps
cooker (40) 10A then 30 % of remainder plus 5 Amps for incorporated socket 10 + 9 + 5 =24Amps
Ring 100% (32) = 32Amps
Radial 40% (16) = 6.4Amps
total 66.4Amps

hope this...
Hi Poorfish, glad you liked the post, the 2392 was quite challenging for me as I am not working in the industry yet, however I will hope to sit the 2391 in the near future, although I do believe it is a lot harder than the 2392:), good luck mate, (Meerkat)
Hi Marc, I think this is covered by the functional testing at the end, this means testing all circuits live using lamps and switches for lighting circuits, and a socket tester for all radial circuits/ring circuits incorporating a socket, this also confirms correct supply polarity cheers...
Hi, just passed the 2392 and have the following advice for students sitting the exam.
Ask for any paperwork regarding installation/Consumer unit at the start.
Do the safe isolation:
Identify means of isolation
Ask permisssion to isolate
Isolate and lock off
Inspect and prove voltage tester...
Hi Tom, I am at the Stockton Riverside College, Thornaby, stockton on tees, TS17 6FB, if you google the address and post code on google maps it should show you exactly on a map, cheers (Meerkat)
totally agree with everything said, it does exactly what it says on the tin, nice one Alan, and very well done, a must for all trainee sparks, (Meerkat) :Applaud :Applaud
so either test X 2 incorporating L/N/E, or test X 6 L/N,L/E,E/N, switching inbetween each test, have I got it right, cheers Kme, really appreciate it, (Meerkat)
I am doing the 2392 at the moment and we have been told to test insulation resistance between Line and Neutral, Line and Earth and Neutral and Earth, which is standard practise. we were also told on a lighting circuit you must incorporate the strappers, by operating the switch(es) does this...
Hi John, and welcome, I am in the fire service and retire in 2 years time, I have 1 year left @ college to complete my 2330 and am taking my 2392 on a night time aswell, so you aint the only old timer doing this, good luck, (Meerkat) :)
