    0V To Earth?

I'll try again. 1  There is a vehicle trailer which is used as an office 2  It is supplied with 230v AC, from a fully compliant source, in order to to be able to have lights 3  The trailer chassis and all metalwork thereon are Earthed through the supply 4  There is a CU in the trailer 5...

    0V To Earth?

On a vehicle trailer, which is supplied with 230v AC, to the Earth of which the chassis and all metalwork is bonded, a 12V transformer/rectifier is tapped off to feed a 12V DC unit, the  Neg/0V return of which is through the chassis. This has worked for years; it has never been a problem, and...

    Dual Voltage?

Gents, I need a single-phase 3 hp motor. I've seen on eBay several motors that are described as "dual voltage", and one that is described as single phase, but the pictures of the motor spec plate show     V  230/250--460/500, although it clearly states on the plate "Single phase". It's a GEC...

    Stop Me And Solve One!

@ Apprentice87 Hi, I checked the "lights on' effect today, and there was no discernible effect; using an optical digital tacho the reading stayed within the internal error.  @ Sidewinder HI, there is no Rating plate on the Machine because there has never been an Electrical component of the...

    Stop Me And Solve One!

I've never noticed, but I'll check as soon as I can. I can measure the speed decrease when the machine is switched in. If I established the output of the alternator, disconnected the battery, and connected a load equal to the alternator output, then could I use the Wattage of the load in any way...

    Stop Me And Solve One!

Well, that's the problem, Sidewinder; at the moment the machine is driven by a diesel engine. The only electric involved is 12v DC which operates the clutch between the machine and the engine. Thanks for the welcome!

    Stop Me And Solve One!

Gents,  I have the job of converting a mobile ice-cream machine in a van ; (my daughter's), the machine presently being driven by the van's engine, to also be able to run instead on 230v AC when in sensitive or confined places (such as at Food Fairs, Farmers' Markets etc.)  The job is pretty...
