I've been naughty.....and also nealry cried today!

I'll take some piccies tomorrow (hopefully I wont get slated too much!) I will be testing and completing the cert tomorrow. As I have never fitted a fused isolator in the the tails before, is this classed as a new DB, with a submain circuit feeding the new CU? Or do I just test the new CU and...

I've been naughty.....and also nealry cried today!

Interesting day... Got the job to install a secondary CU to feed two new circuits. Job consisted of fitting a fused isolator into recesss elec board box, a 3m run of armed up the outside wall from the cutout box, then in to the new CU. The naughty bit is where I had to move the E7 meter,the...

    Testing MCBs

I used to test MCB's when I worked at RR. Never seen it done since - suppose it is down to cost of the testers. Oracle.

Hi there, Do you know what size terminals the 60A Wylex metal clad unit has? Will it take 25mm cable? Oracle.

    Fused Isolator

All, I am after a small metal (ideally - but could be plastic) switched single phase fused isolator to go in some meter tails. I believe Mem do a unit? Many thanks, Oracle

    17th Edition

Hi, The cable will have a very short run up the outside wall and in to the new CU - hence it ideally needs protection. J.

    17th Edition

Thanks guys :) On a related note.... If running armed from the cut out to a CU - distance less than 2m.... what's the consensus on terminating at the cutout end (won't be using a fused isolator)? 1) Terminate into a plastic box with henley's inside (that way you maintain double insultation...

So a small CU with one RCD as main switch and two MCBs? :D Oracle.

    17th Edition

Hello, I have been asked to fit a secondary CU for an extension that has been built - 1 ring, 1 light. Client does not want existing non RCD CU touching. They only want a small new CU (just for extension) Would you just fit something like a 4 or 6 way, with an RCD as main switch? Or CU with...

    What would you do???

Been to look at a job where they want some new circuits connecting up (new ring and lights). Existing CU is a 4 way wylex rewireable. No RCD in sight (no spare ways) Cutout is PME with 100A carrier (not sure actual fude rating), tails are 16mm (running inside the cavity), earth is 6mm (running...
