    Bathroom extractor fan

There's no exit point from the attic for the ducting.

    Bathroom extractor fan

I thought that axial fans were mainly wall / window mounted and centrifugal fans were mainly used for those fed through somewhere like an attic space?

    Bathroom extractor fan

There does seem to be some condensation related issues on the wall and ceiling above the bath / shower so surely an extractor fan would help to address this?

    Bathroom extractor fan

There is a window in the bathroom and the extractor fan would have to go on the same wall. What happens in this instance?

    Bathroom extractor fan

Hiya guys. I'm just after a wee bit of advice :D A customer wants an extractor fan fitting in their bathroom. They have a bath with an electric shower over it i.e. combined. Will the extractor fan be as effective on the wall (above the bath) as it would be on the ceiling (above the bath)?

    What are they called?

    Yes!!!!! :Applaud Cheers Brian! :)

    What are they called?

With surface mounted switches the pop out bit on the top of the switch where the cable can enter is quite a bit bigger than the cable itself i.e. someone could put their finger in. What are the little rubber coverings called that can be put around the cable at the entry point to stop this...

    Pet sensitive intruder alarms

Hi guys - When installing an intruder alarm is it ok to spur it off an existing circuit i.e. does it need it's own MCB? It might soung like a simple question but I haven't installed one before.

    Boiler thermostat

How does that explain the wiring irregularities?
  12. D

    Boiler thermostat

    I think it's a combi boiler.

    Boiler thermostat

That's the most likely outcome but I just wanted to understand exactly how it's wired at present.

    Boiler thermostat

How exactly would it be wired, in this instance?

    Boiler thermostat

There's no sign of wiring centres or junction boxes but I didn't get under the floorboards as the homeowner wasn't in and had just asked me to have a look at the thermostat itself. Surely they can be wired in series though as if the old one's off the new one doesn't work but if the new one's...

    Boiler thermostat

That was my original thought but there's only one cable going into the old thermostat i.e. no feed from that to the new thermostat.

    Boiler thermostat

Right, this is a strange one so bear with me! I went to a neighbour's house today as her boiler packed in over the weekend and the plumber who came out to fix it thought that there might also be an issue with the electrics, more specifically the thermostat. When I got there I found that...

    Garage supply - Cable

Aye, it is a garage unit with a 6A and 16A MCB. The supply cable is 2.5mm. There's only one light in the garage and the sockets will only occasionally be used and not for anything demanding.

    Garage supply - Cable

I have already asked some related questions but I just wanted to be clear about the supply cable. It may not even be an issue but the existing wiring in the garage isn't great so i'm anticipating that they supply cable, which is buried, might not be upto scratch either.

    Garage supply - Cable

No, the feed from the main CU is already in place. I'm rewiring the garage and installing a separate CU. I just wanted to make sure I needed to test the supply cable. [quote name='Andy
