Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Have been using the Metrel since middle of last year and find it great. Takes a wee bit of getting used to and have never used either the auto sequence facility or the memory/form generating functions. It feels great and intuitive to use when you get used to it.

Rewire needed 2 - The saga continues (unlike the cpc)

Sorry man, but if I'm looking at that I'm thinking rewire. Huge list of problems, you are gonna have to move or at least change all the socket boxes if the ones you have photographed are anything to go by, you are adding a bunch of new circuits anyway, some that absolutely need rewired, some...

    Main Cut-out fuse missing??

I always say the better we get at manufacturing things, the worse the things we manufacture become. Things are made with such a tiny margin for error now. If you take a look at some of the older switchgear you come across and, but for changes in the regs, some of it would last forever.

    Main Cut-out fuse missing??

Yup, all of the above... but should we need to? Better quality terminal screws, tougher casings??

    Main Cut-out fuse missing??

Blew the fuse, don't work with live mains too often but had a look at the main switch terminals and the space in the board and I knew I could get the cables in. Wasn't anticipating pulling them out at the other end when I was trying to get the cover back on though. Interestingly, I'm sure we...

    Main Cut-out fuse missing??

Installing a shower isolator in a very tight cupboard. Am thinking to myself "I am not phoning those pesky Scottish Power ****ers to isolate the mains and I can get them into the main switch terminals live without cutting the seal" (which I did)... (so there!) However... wrestling with the...

    Main Cut-out fuse missing??

I cut the seals off fairly regularly when replacing DB's, been told by the Scottish Power guys that it is a fairly regular occurrence and they don't seem to bother too much about it so long as it doesn't look like you've been trying to tamper with the meter. As has been suggested, do the work...
