    LED Lighting...

As I said: It was in a wooden building akin to a scout hut, all the fluorescent lighting had been done this way. We spoke to the owner of the building and the last time he had any sparks (if you can call them that)on site was in the 1980's. You should have seen the rest of the site... :o

    Disboard Change

Nice. Recently changed a SquareD three phase board for a larger SquareD board, not as nice as MG boards. The Merlin Gerin name is going and it's just going to be called Schneider electric from now on. The SquareD name carries on.

Did this a couple of months back in a Restaurant. Just the LEDs switched on: The next pic isn't great as the camera isn't brilliant. A couple of PLTE compact fluorescent fittings thrown in as well. Wall wash led lights Final result. The next lot are from a different cafe. Entrance...

CK screwdrivers, CK/NWS cutters and Pliers and Knipex cutters. The knipex cutters I've had for longer than the CK's/NWS's and are the best ones I've had.

    Square D in administration?

Not true. I was told a porky by the manager of this national wholesaler. I let him know I wasn't amused when I saw him yesterday.

    BAE Sytems

Not sure if it will increase your chances, but Govan/Scotsoun have been building Type-45 destroyers for the navy. The work coming from down south is due to BAE at barrow being overloaded with work building Astute attack Submarines and after that building the Trident replacement Subs. The work...

    Outside lighting cable choice

I do quite a lot of exterior lighting on commercial sites, and have used hi-tuff in the past, and have used a mixture of plastic/metal conduit. When using plastic you have to make sure the saddle spacing is "compact" as after a few years of sun it starts to droop. I use FP-200 wherever I can...

GET is part of Schneider electric(Merlin Gerin, SquareD etc), While MK's weatherproof range is good, I've stopped using all the other MK products.

    Hells FuseBoard...

Yep, C50 breakers, made of bakerlite I'd say. I've actually still got a few of those in storage in their original packaging. Never going to get used...

    Hells FuseBoard...

Apologies for the poor picture quality, my camera phone is crap. This is a Crabtree three phase board from the late 60's/early 70's. As you can see from the pics, a fun board to work on. A close up of the three-phase arrangement. The earth terminals are tucked right into the corners, which...

New mature C&G 2330 Student! Hello all!!

Hi, If you are not in the trade already, then it can be a way of gaining a little experience in my opinion, But do try and get into the trade. I started at college part-time doing the C&G2360 when I was 33, but had an advantage of being in the trade(family Business), a lot of others there...

    Hampton Court Flower Show.

All final circuits which are supplied from a three phase distribution board (one for each marquee) are protected by 30mA RCDs. I would expect that the contractors have complied with section 711 and regulation 711.410.3.4 when it comes to the origin of the supply. :) I will have a look at the...

    Hampton Court Flower Show.

Its all supplied via generators. As for Section 711, are you asking whether we complied or the contractors who installed the site's power supplies? ?:| I will be back there on Monday to remove the lights from the display, I shall get some more pictures, I would have got more, but the...

Be aware of your Cat !!!!

One of the van dealers near me had half a dozen cats nicked from the bottom of his vans a few weeks back. Last Summer I was working in bandit country(Crawley in Sussex) and the local newspaper had a story of some pikey drilling car fuel tanks in some street. He wasn't very successful as the...
