    Replacing Di-Log DL6507 battery

As title states Long day, can't figure out how to open the Di-Log and I need it tomorrow. The manual says there are 3 screws on the rear of the meter. I can't see any and need to replace the battery! Cheers GS

    Risk Assesment and Method Statement

Sorry...The title says RA & ME, It should be RA & MS. Was knackered last night Yes, you are right Side, you can not have a generic document, each is different for every job. However as Riggy mentions, I would like some sort of template I can modify, so I don't have to start from...

    Risk Assesment and Method Statement

Evening all. I hope you are all well. Does anybody know where I can download a risk assesment and method statement for electrical maintenance work. I know method statments are job specific and that the risk assesment would need to be "altered" to suit the job, but I can't find anything...

    It's starting to get real...

As already mentioned a PIR would be good Noz. When I switched from DI to AC, I did not arrange a site visit to a job I had PIR'd. He was happy to look through a PIR on my laptop and then we went through some questions regarding that PIR. This was as well as the other site visits I had arranged...

    unhappy customer

I've had similar problems. Its allways with clients who want a "cheap CCTV system", I explain to them they'l get what they pay for. Then they don't understand why its "not as good as TV". FFS do TV cameras look the same size as them domes out there?!!! GS

    live metal switches and sockets

It may not be tripping on 5x because of the high zs. I have experienced this many times with my fluke. Excessive touch voltage during test if I remember correctly. GS

    TT disconnection times

Cheers. Not sure what is the best option here. Could you give me an example of what you mean by an "adjustable shunt trip based unit" Either way, it looks like I'll have to get the DNO out. The 50mm tails from the enclosed & sealed 3 phase meter/cutout would need isolating to change the...

    TT disconnection times

Evening all. I was under the impression that in most cases, in order to meet disconnection times within a TT installation, RCD's must be used unless Ze is very low. I have come across a 3-phase installation (caravan park) where the setup basically compromises of a panel board feeding 3x 3...

    PIR

Afternoon all. I carried out a PIR last week on an ancient property. Looks to have been rewired about 35 years ago. Anyway, Whilst carrying out end to end tests on the rings I found that the readings on the CPC's where very low. Eventually found a large adaptable box where most circuits had...

    Interesting one.

Quick update I don't think there is a problem with the N connection. Testers playing up again. Since I have moved the DB (to prevent contact between the door and the DNO's cutout as shown in the picture) There has been no RCD's tripping. Hopefully this was the problem. Strange one though! As...

    Mains downlighters.

I tend to use the fire rated ones to be honest. Dont really like the idea of any insulation touching the lamp. I know insulation is supposed to be cleared around the fitting, but whose to stop someone coming along at a later date and disturbing/re insulating. Just my opinion GS

    ECA Membership.

I dont think ECA have anything to do with becoming a JIB member. Or as Gordy says are you talking about becoming a JIB registered company? I was JIB registered as a "installation electrician" on completion of my apprenticeship. Once I completed my 2391, I notified JIB and was now classed as...

    Interesting one.

Fluke 1653. They where calibrated 6 weeks ago. Although looking back, the Loop test was only a marginal pass. Think I need some new leads. Then again, shouldn't make a difference if they're nulled. GS

    Interesting one.

I was there for an hour this morning as I had a few other bits to sort out. Thaught id re-test the L-N loop = 0.81ohms Earth loop. L1-E = 0.14ohms Im sure my testers are on their way out. Then again, they where fine on the following job. I repeated the test 3 times on Monday following the...

    Interesting one.

I was called to a Caravan Park earlier. Reports of RCD's tripping. I had a similar situation a while back where I posted about it on here. Received loads of help and info from Sidewinder. (Thanks again) Anyway. When I got there I was told that RCD's within a few hookups and the main toilet...
