Just got a letter from the NICEIC saying thanks for the application for transfer from Domestic Installer to Approved Contractor status, your assessor will be in touch soon to arrange for the office visit.... and all that gumph.

So I've really now got to start getting all my stuff together.. buying publications etc..

I know that they like to see different wiring methods, but what sort of things do they like to see?? If it were to happen tomorrow I have an extension (submain and final circuits - all T&E), a couple or three rewires (completed), a rewire in progress and a couple of PVC conduit jobs (singles wiring)... aswell as a few minor works to boot..

do you think that those would cover it or would it help if I had a few others (BTW the above is all very recent work)

I could do a PIR of my parents place... no problem.. it might be a good one as it needs a new CU and bonding

I need to get GN1, fire alarm regs (pt6) and EM lighting regs.. I have found the second two online (second hand) for <

have you got any ind/comm to show them?

I know our guy always likes top see something,

even if its only on a visual and some questions as he realises its not always suitable to shut down or gain permission to access live DBs due to the nature of the premises.

Same here Steps, though not normally an issue for me.

A PIR to chew over can go a long way?

However, you will need to show some Comm/Ind & different wiring methods.

I "MAY" have a job nearby that we could do.

I'll try tomorrow to bring it forward for you if I can.

There will be a bit of a paperwork overhead, & a couple of other issues, but I'll monimise these as best I can.

Also I will sort mtls if needed.

Gis a ring in the am Noz.

I do also have a residential park that I do work on..

mostly the electrical side of siting the units,,, extend the supply SWA into an IP box with an Isolator, B32 MCB and a din rail meter; then 4mm Artic into the CU... I also connect both sides together and bond the Gas

I rang up to apply this friday and explained I rarely get much commerical work and thats the main reason for me going for it.

The woman said that theres no problems with only doing domestic work and being an approved contractor.

Canoe,

I always offer my assessor any jobs that are out of the ordinary or, I am unsure about!

IF I have a job that is a bit dodgy I'll tell him and get him to go there with me so we can bang heads on it as it were!

My guy down here is pretty switched on and has done a lot of stuff, he is also an NICEIC Hazardous Area Inspector!

i.e. for Petrochem etc.

As we have a little of this in S Wales!

As already mentioned a PIR would be good Noz.

When I switched from DI to AC, I did not arrange a site visit to a job I had PIR'd. He was happy to look through a PIR on my laptop and then we went through some questions regarding that PIR. This was as well as the other site visits I had arranged. U'll probably have the same inspector I had mate. Nice bloke.

GS

PS. If I can do it with no problems, I'm pretty damn sure u can!!

You dont have to have GN1, its GN3 thats needed
According to the info I've been sent they require GN1,, I already have GN3 from when I did my 2391.. also have the "PAT" testing guide....

I have just ordered GN1 last night:(,, thankfully I managed to save a bit of money in getting the other regs so it's no problem TBH, and it'll be a good reference to have;)
