    first domestic rewire, opinions please.

Like a pig or two do we??

    first domestic rewire, opinions please.

A radial can be fine, I prefer to pull a ring in as don't want calling back by the client to say that there is a tripping problem when they have all the sockets in use and risk having them say that I didn't design the circuit in accordance with their requirements! ---------- Post Auto-Merged at...

    first domestic rewire, opinions please.

Agreed, I only fit Aico as an accredited installer and they have an App available to help you out with the general points regarding the regs. Also agree that Hager boards are ace!

40 year old Landrover as a "van" am I mad?

Oh and most of all Dave, be prepared to spend a lot of time tinkering! LandRovers always, always have something that pops up and requires attention when you least expect it. They need constant TLC.

    first domestic rewire, opinions please.

Personally I don't wire a kitchen on a 2.5mm radial, perferring a ring final circuit but that depends on what you have in the kitchen. Most people have a fridge, kettle, washing machine, dishwasher etc etc and just makes more sense to pull in a ring to take care of the extra load. Also, as a...

40 year old Landrover as a "van" am I mad?

I have my van but also have a LR Discovery 1 300TDi with lift kit and oversized wheels. We are rural out here too (not as barren as Scotland) and as soon as the snow comes it becomes my work vehicle as it can go nearly anywhere. If your work takes you off the beaten track regularly then I would...

    Pricing

I would have gone in around 6-7K personally. Can I just ask - having a new baby, what does that have to do with the price of eggs??

Have taken her to the vet and she has a temperature and mild infection although the wound is sound. An anti inflammatory injection and antibiotics and a lovely bill for

    Speying a Lab

Well I finally had her speyed last Friday and just wanted to check a change in behaviour. She has nylon stitches in and is coping very well - apart from doing a silly 'dance' every now and then when I guess they pull or she is itching where they are healing. However, more importantly is the...

    jubilee weekend

Nah, not done anything for the Jubilee - afterall, the Queen ain't done nothing for me lol. Her govt is in disarray and the country is in sticky stuff. Not much for her to celebrate.

    Sick of Part Peee

Bang on Rev. It is actually doing us a favour and pushing us more onto Ind / Comm work which we actually prefer and it pays much better than domestic.

    Sick of Part Peee

My business is run nicely thankyou! What I am moaning about is not the cost as such, but the fact that as a 'competent' electrical contractor who has ALL the relevant insurances and has made the effort to do the RIGHT thing and join a scam provider some years ago, I am finding more and more...

Couldn't move to sweaty land - too much carp rugby up there!

    Sick of Part Peee

Quoted on a small kitchen refit. Client happy with price at time, 2 weeks on and the kitchen fitter has been in to quote and has incorporated the electrics into his price. Client phones me - "oh, he is much cheaper than you so I shall be using him for the whole job"...

    domestic / commercial / industrial ????

I cover all aspects except agricultural. I would say 60% is domestic, 40% commercial & industrial. I prefer the latter - too many part p regs in domestic. Been in the industry for 7 years.

    Fluke, paying for a name?

I have used all sorts of testers over the years and have just bought a Fluke T5-600 and am very pleased with it. One thing I particularly like is the fact it is designed for one probe to 'sit' in the tester while you hold the other probe in your other hand, rather than trying to juggle the...

I need a narrow Shower CU

Just get the seal fairies to move the meter a few mill. I hear it is really quick and easy to do, of course I would never engage in such practices myself.

Electricians Tax Safe Plan Scheme (Or whatever)

They make me want to puke! They need to get their own house in order before gunning after trades. It was only on the news a couple of nights ago about Govt departments staff abusing tax loopholes themselves and costing the treasury millions in lost tax.

    Limited company and sole trader?

Dividend on a yearly basis? Why??? I take mine every month or so. Perfectly acceptable as long as your business is profitable as it is illegal to pay dividends if not in profit.
