    Chrome and black

Hi Guys and Girls, It's been a while since I've been here. I've been asked to replace all the downstairs accessories in a newly built house for a friend of a family member, I don't normally do domestic, but said yes. She asked for Chrome with black inserts, no problem I thought.  I gave my...

Old Style Fuse Boards With Asbestos Flash Pads

" such as shadow vacuuming /sheet of area and correct ppe to be worn" Don't be thinking it's a standard Henry Hoover, like 2 of my former colleagues did as they drilled through asbestos, vacuuming the dust away as they drilled

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

Irrelevant what fault current they will see in the real world. The insurance company see unsatisfactory by the testers. So insurance is a problem until resolved. If any one wants to sign off on leaving them in place, accepting all liability, I'm sure my boss will bung you a few beer tokens.

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

We've got pfc of approaching 10k on 6k MCB's. Old install in metal containment. The decision was made to replace all effected with 10k variety. Site engineers argued it's not been a problem in 40 odd years. Counter argument - yes it's 40 odd years old, time to expect issues. No one would sign...

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

I'd love to do away with it or send it through an inverter, but those decisions are not mine to make. The battery unit was replaced in 2013 ffs.

I'd guess yes, but by a milkman.

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

Hi all, thanks for the replies. There are no functional switches on the system as its all fired from a panel at reception. Power to the contactor coil. This connects the corridor board to the AC supply. If you knock off the AC, another clunk is heard and then DC is present on the breaker. I'm...

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

I have no idea Roy. I guess it was designed with fuses 40 odd years ago. The fuses were converted to MCB's at some point. I don't think anyone realised the problem. I guess gear has just been replaced as needed over that time. A bit of foresight could have saved a lot of pain now. Straw pole...

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

Erm... I'd guess so, but I've had nothing to do with them. The site spark is working his way through 4-500 fittings. He has said in the past there are two circuits in some fittings.

They all sound like muppets...... Never a truer word spoken Yes AC normal, DC emergency.

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

I'd love too Canoey. I believe it was replaced a few years ago. Also they've just shelled out for DC led fittings so it's not an option. It's not my decision either. I just raised the concern. Site spark hasn't twigged the problem, testers never noted it either. I just don't want to be the...

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

That's what I've read Dave. The 0v crossing helps reduce the magnitude of fault to break. DC Does not do this hence a lot lower rated

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

It won't be designed correctly I'm sure. The 6kA's were put in years ago to replace fuses. I've never seen so many c curve MCB's in my life. The battery system is definitely sending DC out. It caught my volt stick loving mate out ; -) I've measured it at 274VDC. Theyre in the process of...

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

It's a central battery system, so yes batteries. If there was a short after the board, there would be an overload situation that the breaker would need to clear. I don't know what the fault current would be to be honest. It's new to me, and no one wants to offer a solution or get involved to...

    Dc Through Ac Mcb's

Hi all, I'm stuck with remedial a on a large commercial building. PFC is generally 6-10kA and the testers have flagged that most of the breakers are only rated at 6kA, fair cop. Each of the boards is fed via a BS 88 fuse, typically up to 100amp. The decision has been made (above my head) to...

    Network Cable Length?

I was told 100m Max on data, a "proper" tester I believe will fail a cable longer than 90m, (100m plus 2 x5m patch cables) I'm sure longer would work, but cross talk and other stuff I don't know about would increase reducing speeds. "Never used Cat 6 Is it the same colours? same make up...

    Wharton 482 Master Clock Instructions

That's the system. I set the time and date on the master but nothing happened to the slave clocks. I managed to put some random other stuff in without having a clue. Lone behold a pulsed output kicking the minute hand round 1 minute every 2-3 seconds. They all revolved for a half hour or so...

    Wharton 482 Master Clock Instructions

Long shot, but... Has anyone got a set if instructions for a Wharton 482 master clock circa 1994, or link to them? I had a call to a civic building with this system installed. A number of clocks spread throughout the building all driven by a controller on the top floor. I managed to get it...
