    2 gang socket covers

Temporary guards for plastering protection have been on the go for a while, Names include yoozyguards and sockitz safety shield, not 100% on my spelling but close enough. Never used them myself so can’t say if they are any good.

Gas Hob instructions say no plug

Fitted a spur and moved on, just curious as to why so insistent on no plug, I hate things where I can’t see the logic.

Gas Hob instructions say no plug

Thanks for the replies. No separate earth point and just a standard 3 core 0,75 mm2 flex. When I fitted my own a couple of years ago, mine went on a plug and into a single socket under the worktop.

Gas Hob instructions say no plug

Went round to my mates today to help him fit his new gas hob. The instructions for the hob says Do Not Fit A Plug and at the cable end there is a sticker saying Do not fit plug. Why are they so against connecting it via a plug, I did fit it via a fused spur down rated to 3A but I just don’t see...

    Makes my blood boil

Your logic is starting to confuse me, not sure how long you have had it sorted and not powered up but let’s say you have been mucking about for a month and you are going to keep mucking about for the next two or three weeks with the price of leccy now and maybe if you are getting FIT payments...

    Makes my blood boil

I am not a solar installer but I have replaced my own inverter, wasn’t much to it, almost plug and play, I say almost as I replaced my SML with a Solis, SML don’t use MC4 connectors so had to change them, 10 min job, the Solis was half the price and a 5 year warranty, So if the breakers are on...

    Makes my blood boil

Looks like PV wins the bet, just looked on the SF forum and found this from the same user Toko name: I had an inverter failure, during the oppressive summer and tried to get an electrician to check it for me. 20 tries and not one response, not even to say we're busy. I bought a new inverter...

Watch your back with 15mm acoustic plasterboard it is as heavy as a big bag of heavy things.

Back boxes 5mm sunken into plasterboard walls

I certainly would not be worrying about that, you might need to buy a packet of slightly longer screws, but they are as cheap as chips.

Am i confused or is this right?

Our work boots had anti-static stamped on the souls which actually meant they did conduct to a certain degree, this was to stop the build up of static charge on us then suddenly discharging when we earthed ourselves which could have caused an ignition of flammable gasses. This meant that when we...

Old Garage Roller Door drives down on up or down command

When I removed it, it was only held with 1/2 a dozen rivets, I was under the impression that these were only to lock it all together as the driving shear force was acting on the square cut out on the end of the roller and the plastic dog on the motor collar? if I have that wrong it is no biggie...

Old Garage Roller Door drives down on up or down command

Just to conclude the thread. Removed the motor a couple of weeks ago (had to drill out half a dozen pop rivets) to get the the nameplate details and dimensions, 120NM, 97mm collar, looked on internet found generic motors meeting that spec ordered one from Amazon, about £120, arrived through the...

    Stubborn Installers

The 3.68kW is a limit that was set by the DNO, in order to be able to have control over the distribution network, and to ensure the distribution network can handle the generated power. In simple terms it meant that they only needed to be informed of “micro” generation systems (below 3.68kW) but...

Old Garage Roller Door drives down on up or down command

Are the internal motors fairly standard? any I have worked on in my life have been motors that sit externally to the roller and drive via a gearbox big industrial roller doors.
