    Average wage in maintenance??

Just an approved spark with gold card. Haven’t got any qualifications in PLCs or an engineering background. I’m self employed now doing install. If I was to go into maintenance it would be direct and I would need training on machines etc.

    Average wage in maintenance??

The maintenance job is direct. And I would need training with the machines and PLCs etc. I’m an installation spark so I haven’t touched any of that on site. I’m familiar with contactors / stop starts/ motors and relays. But that’s it really other than that it’s standard install knowledge. My...

    Average wage in maintenance??

I wouldn’t say I struggle with it. I just find it very uncomfortable because having work with the same person all year just means I haven’t had to do it. I’ve had a call today from a company i emailed who have offered me work on my day rate. So I’m going to have work at least whilst I consider...

    Average wage in maintenance??

Thanks. I have tried agencies to start with but they don’t get back to me. Say there’s work and say they will be in touch and I never hear anything again. I’m also messaging companies asking for work and I’m getting a response until I mention my day rate. After that I don’t hear anything. There...

    Average wage in maintenance??

I’m still unsure how I feel. I’ve been a Subby 18 months or so. Had most of my work from a good friend who has his own company. It’s gone quiet at the minute so it isn’t sitting well with me. I’m just messaging companies currently trying to get something else. Part of me still wants to keep at...

    Average wage in maintenance??

Hello guys. I’ve found a job in maintenance that interests me and may have an interview. The money is up to 38,000 a year. I’m currently a Subby and charge £200 a day. I just sub to companies on day rate. I’m weighing up if it’s worth the jump or not because it’s a drop in money. But on the...

    Industrial Electrical Contractors

Is there anyone who knows of companies in the Birmingham, Walsall, Cannock, Burton and surrounding areas who do work on Automation and machines? Installing in Factory environments ? Industrial sparkying? I would like to learn it, so I would like to get in with a firm that does this type of thing...

Maintenance engineer role requirements? Is it possible to switch to this from Installation?

I would say it is because I don’t meet the advertised criteria. I’ve mainly done commercial install. Done a bit with contactors and relays but that is it really. Thing is thow how do I get experience with PLCs and machines if nobody will give me the chance? Im very good at metal munching...

Maintenance engineer role requirements? Is it possible to switch to this from Installation?

Can anyone tell me specifically what I will need to learn to become a Electrical Maintenance Engineer? My back ground is Commercial Installation work. But I really do fancy this and I’m keen to find out what is involved and if the switch is possible. I’ve applied for some jobs but I’m not...

    Work in the new year

I’ve ran jobs for years. But always had the stress element to it so I would rather not do it anymore.

    Work in the new year

Yes it’s me mate. I am being pushed into supervisor roles that I don’t really want to do. I like being an Electrician and being hands on. But being told I’m not a good spark unless I run jobs. I feel that there is a difference between being a good spark and being a good supervisor. The two are...

    Work in the new year

Ive decided to move from where I work. My question is how soon in the new year do the agencies start recruiting again? Is there much chance of getting a start in January? Or a start with a company? Just seeing what my options are. Or do I stay put a bit longer until things pick up? I could stick...

    Direct or subby

No not every day. And yes it is to avoid paying door to door.I don’t go to yard at night. I go straight home. I think being direct suits me. But it’s just finding the right firm. I’m my own worse enemy . I always get it in my head that there’s something better out there. Always have that little...

    Direct or subby

Not sure where you got that from. I wouldn’t go on agencies. Agency sparks are thought of as bottom of the pile who can’t hold down a job. And agencies always lye about how much work they have. I’m not saying all agency sparks useless but most the ones I’ve worked with are.   I think so too but...

    Heating up a cafe options

There is a gas main available. Would just be a case of running a pipe to the boiler.
