    Dumb idea?

Lol…. Ours is a damn site closer than that TBH though, it’s pretty standard if you look on the uk ev owners FB pages

    SPD

TBH the risk assessment is a right ball ache anyway... how in hells name do I know, or go about finding out, the length of the LV cables to the sub and then the length of the HV cables from there.. the other risk assessment is wether the value of the installation is outweighed by the cost of a...

    SPD

Oh no.... they know exactly what they're getting for the money.... I talk to them about the advantages of RCBO's and a "built in SPD",,,, however I don't give them an option.... I can't ever remember being asked if there's a cheaper way and most people book me in anyway ... I'm not the cheapest...

    SPD

when I price a CU it's pretty much always a full RCBO board with SPD... I don't give the customer the option

    'Pay for' EV charge point

I’m not going to try and convert you but this is a very standard argument between ICE and BEV… Just remember, that at some point during a journey you will have to stop for a per/coffee/stretch your legs….. if you plan this at a rapid charge point where you can charge at up to 150kWh (depending...

    'Pay for' EV charge point

Occasionally.... but only really put it in sport mode at the lights ;)   what kills it (same as any car) is driving at  70mph on a dual carriageway  Apparently it might take 10% off the range... heated seats and steering wheel have very little effect though... the figure that we have got is...

    'Pay for' EV charge point

They've worked it out on an average of 4 miles / kWh..... we've not done 300 miles in our car yet and are averaging 3.6 miles / kWh ..... thats with a 50kWh battery of which 45kWh is useable.. so it works out that we have a range of 162 miles.... I'm sure that we can get more range out of it...

    'Pay for' EV charge point

I know that there are some that you can have rfid cards for, but I don’t know if the backend can be set up to bill individual users or not…. or wether it just unlocks the charge point Modern public charge points now have to be set up to be allow contactless payments…. although some give a...

    Does a DNO 30mA RCD Isolator satisfy 411.4.204 (411.3.2.2)

I'd go a step further and say that they should have mandated that circuits should not share RCD protection at all

    WOW.... just .... WOW

I've heard that cars that can utilise a 3ph charge point just have 3 single phase chargers on board,,, and not a single 3 phase charger

    WOW.... just .... WOW

I doubt it.... this will be pitched at the domestic market

    WOW.... just .... WOW

I see this option touted all the time on some of the EV forums that I'm a member of..... "Just get an electrician to fit a 32A Commando socket and then get a OHME charger, should only cost £50" However, they don't take into account PEN protection or DC RCD protection.... so by the time a Matt-e...

Who needs the complications of BS 7671 when you want an EV point

OK..... so .... I'm an OZEV approved installer The last charge point that I did took maybe 5 hours to install, commission and test..... but that did include a dedicated CU (with SPD) and a run through a stone wall and maybe 8m in a trench (customer dug that with his mini digger :) ) to a...
