Rerouting Not Rewiring Cables - Need To Be Signed Off?

Where are these guidelines? I haven't seen them. After all, it is for the Inspector to determine when the next periodic inspection should be having regard for the condition of the electrical installation. Indeed, the Inspector may state that the installation should be re-inspected in six months...

Rerouting Not Rewiring Cables - Need To Be Signed Off?

I have no idea - where did you see that?

Rerouting Not Rewiring Cables - Need To Be Signed Off?

Only relevant to England & Wales. The Electrical Safety Register should be used elsewhere.

Rerouting Not Rewiring Cables - Need To Be Signed Off?

I can assure you that any cable manufacturer will tell you that the typical service life of a cable is not taken to be anything like 50 years. More like 25 years. This is likely a life-expired installation.

    Wiring regs

On-Site Guide existed for the 16th Edition and had nothing to do with Part P, and indeed pre-dated it by many years.

    Anyone got 7671:2004

To be pedantic it was BS 7671:2001 (2004). 🙂

    EICR Close Out

As above it's up to whoever did the remedial works to certify that work. I certainly would not ever reissue an EICR with "Satisfactory" on it. It's a snapshot in time and the certified remedial works will demonstrate that those problems have been rectified. But other things may have changed...

    Michael

I thought that was what MCBs were for.

Pull cords are fine @rapparee however bathroom lights (if indeed in the south of Ireland) must be on a dedicated RCBO (as do any other circuits in the bathroom). Also need to be supplementary bonded. Luminaires must be enclosed so that lamp is inaccessible.

Minimum Kva/Amps for a new build

12kVA is the Standard domestic supply here. 16kVA is offered as an "Enhanced" supply.

    Earthing

Not a requirement. More importantly, these are NOT earths. They are bonds. Also, the title of the topic is wrong - it is absolutely NOT Earthing. It is bonding - in this case main protective bonding.

This has to be a scam, but I can't figure out how?

I got the same e-mail the other day. Didn't sound believable to me but I responded in case to ask for further details. Given that you've had an identical e-mail it's obviously fake.

Are we really cheapening ourselves THAT much?

Where have the NICEIC ever made any such statement?

    Neutral earth fault

Potentially very dangerous indeed. I've come across cases where a neutral/Earth fault existed and the neutral tail was disconnected from the meter, resulting in the entire installation's load returning through the neutral/Earth fault on a 1.5mm^2 cable causing melting and arcing and a real and...

    Brexit discussion anyone ??

Indeed. I'd say at least 60-75% of my work is on the other side of the border. Hard to say with any certainty at the minute.

    Brexit discussion anyone ??

I live only a mile from that very border but I view Brexit as an opportunity and voted for it. I don't believe the so-called "EU" has any place in the world and never have believed that it does.

RCD in consumer unit keeps popping, replaced with new one, still same issue

You (who has randomly replaced parts with ones of unknown origin from eBay!) are not competent to be diagnosing this issue. That is what this (and everything else you have written) tells us. Contact an Electrician. That is the ONLY answer to this. Stop messing about with it - you clearly don't...
