    Oceangate

I don't understand the need to see the Titanic wreck. I agree with Mort that this sort of exploration "expands our horizons" etc.

    Clock connectors

If you're really lucky they may be on their own supply from the meter, check for a "Blinds" breaker in the "fuse box" (Consumer Unit). An electrician could remove that feed, and then the clock outlets can be removed and plastered over. But most likely they're part of the circuit feeding the...

    Growatt battery not discharging

"Round grey cable (2) enters the "six holes" input. This round grey cable goes to the CT I believe - it definitely goes in that direction and connects to a black cable which I'm pretty sure is the one that leads to the CT near the meter." If altering the CT direction made no difference to the...

    Not so green after all?

"Ideally you would site solar farms somewhere like the Sahara and transmit the energy back to Europe," There is a proposed scheme to supply the UK with solar from Morocco. Octopus is one of the investors. It's not clear from my searches whether it is going to happen or not...

    Dispute with provider

It was the fault that threw your breaker that took out the whole road. Only joking :->

    Dispute with provider

Did your installer not explain what the various Disconnectors and Breakers were for, and how to safely turn off and turn back on the PV output, Inverter and Batteries ? The breaker marked PV that is OFF is for the Photo Voltaic (PV) Solar Panels, but may be mislabelled and by extension is in...

    Dispute with provider

Sounds like you've been running only from the grid for a long time. Check in your fuse box (Consumer Unit CU) There should be a breaker labelled Battery. And another one labelled Inverter or Solar, is it in the ON position ?

    Smart switch

Online the iBoost costs about £350. But one ad says £999 including installation. Possibly to include the installation of a new 240V outlet in a convenient position for the 240V brick that powers the WiFi sender ?

    Dispute with provider

I've cropped and enhanced the fourth image: Is it in EPS mode as there's "No AC connection" ?

    Lost prod

"The old chap " What's that got to do with it ? There's a term for this sort of discrimination, but I'm old and I can't remember what it's called........... :->

I should know this but my heads battered !

"Conclusion rcd fcuked. No worries. So new board required." Why can't you just fit a new RCD ?

Reading my battery with pBMS tools over 3mtr via RJ11 to RS232 USB lead

RS232 max cable length is about 50 feet, USB2 is about 15 feet, 5m. So for a reliable connection having a long RS232 and a short USB was the right way.

    "Plug and play hob"

Spec from Bosch site: "Power management options for 16A, 13A or 10A connection: limit the maximum power if needed (depends on fuse protection of electric installation). Power cord 1.1 m UK 3 pin plug: plug and play, no electrician required for installation. This hob is equipped with a UK 3 pin...

Installing a CT on 3 core cable.

That Megger would be for measuring earth leakage ? I put a CT in a 10mm x 10mm x 5mm box. Run the T&E through it. Cut the outer off of about 10mm. Cut, sleeve, wago the earth, or leave uncut and wrap with insulating tape.

Some bloke with a hammer in Devon UK

Oh no ! Cream teas ! He wouldn't let it lie........... :) (another attempt at the friendly banter this site is riddled with)

Setting digital timer on electric wall mounted heaters

As far as I can see, all the mentioned heaters have adjustable time periods ? The Creda also has some preset modes such as "In all Day" and "Out all Day", but they can be adjusted too. I have a similar hate of digital timers. Our village hall 7 Day CH programmer has a minimum period of 10...

Solis Inverter / Battery stops discharging at 20%

I have a Pylontech 3000C, and I believe Pylon have set it's built-in BMS to stop discharge at 20%,

DIY Newbie... why is my invertor screaming 😱

Dried-out bearings on the fan would scream. If the inverter is really "off-grid" with no mains reference, then shouldn't the Battery Management System (BMS) have shut the inverter off when the battery "ran out" ?

ASHP - Am I so unlucky?

Looks interesting John. Just had a quick google,. I see they have an ASHP type unit, connected to the wall vent by pipework. How hard was it to install the pipework, my wife won't like visible pipes ? Does each unit have it's own MCB in the CU ? Any other hurdles ?
