It sounds like the fan is fully automatic then  ,      with  older heaters you would switch it on when required .  Perhaps the heater is undersized for the room .                The usual method with older heaters was to "cook"  during the night ,   storage bricks very hot early morning .  The...

It looks like there is a digital timer thing on the top , it may be there  ,  I 'm not familiar with them TBH .      Are there  two supply flexes  from two switches on the wall?

No idea how to programme my central heating control

Good to have a Heating Eng  on the Forum  .

Ah   it may be the fan that is pushing all the stored heat out then .     Use the fan for  quick warm up only  I'd think .     Keep in mind ....   the heater only consumes power for 7 hours  ...00.00    to 07.00  hrs       ( The fan is on the  normal  24hr  tariff  )    The refractory  blocks...

No spare ways in consumer unit

When stuck for a spare way  ,  upstairs rings  often  have low current  demand .    Our trade has wide parameters ..... you can find a house with a  3 way Wylex  ....Lights  / plugs  /  cooker .        To a board change we did in Lichfield  this year ..... it had almost every room on  it's own...

    Where is the fusebox ?

Why is that Risteard ?       The old Drummond  mains tester,   L - E   will often  trip RCBOs  ....if one drops out  you've found the circuit .   :C         I always meant to buy one of those Martindale   fuse finders  ...bit expensive  but when constantly finding unmarked boards   could have...

    Where is the fusebox ?

Motor repair garages are the worst  ....great at charging us the Earth for  a 1/2 hour job  but never want to pay for new light  / socket etc ,

It may have the OUTPUT  set on full   .  Its often  a mechanical  lever & flap  that works through a mechanical stat device.      The knob is possibly numbered  1  to 6   and is set at 6 .....turn it down as it's allowing the heat out too fast .

    Cable trays

Depends on what type of cable they are using .   A warehouse  like you show would probably  need trunking rising up from the switching position  , then spanning the building .  From the trunking various types of cable could be utilised to drop into the purlin upturn .

    Cable trays

No reason why you can't do that .   I've dropped  PVC conduit , SWA  & T/E   etc   in  the purlins  .  Connect each fitting with plug-in rose , hang fittings from the bottom edge of the purlin .  The cable needs little mechanical  protection up at those heights .

    Aberfan...

I remember it well ,     a terrible disaster  and a disgrace  that no one could see it coming .      Or ignored it .   The attempted whitewash afterwards is unspeakably disgraceful  .       I worked in the Rhondda for a while and just even seeing the road sign  gave you a chill  of...

    My 1st SPD installation

Same here  ,   and the last time I enquired  ,  my wholesaler didn't stock them as no one asks for them .     As a side issue :    I'm sure I posted about them & the those anti arcing things  becoming  mandatory ....dunno where I read that now .  Obviously the manufacturers are  not selling...

    Fire protection in communal stairwells

This is exactly right ......  Binky's   detectors MAY be  individual  smokes  , fed locally & not interlinked  ...whatever .....  shouldn't be coded as they are outside the EICR remit ...a comment yes  , then someone else,s decision  ,   architect  ,  fire chief ,  council  as to whether its...

    Fire protection in communal stairwells

This LGA  document  appears to discourage the installation of any fire detection  ,  unbelievable  .       I'd have thought each flat would have fire/ smoke detection  linked to all flats including the stairwell  .

    32a breaker to a 40a breaker

I thought that too  .     I presume you are tripping an MCB   NOT  an RCD   so as said above ...hell of a lot of current  being used on ring  to be tripping on overload .     Don't fit a larger MCB  .
