Hasn’t this sub done 40 trips to the bottom, without an issue, perhaps engineers under estimated the carbon fibre?

    Not so green after all?

How about if all houses businesses were to be self generating and feeding into the grid, how could the National Grid then justify their charges in supplying electricity? And how could they then charge those that are actually generating to the grid? Wouldn’t that be like charging you for...

Power supply for a 5kW (14.6A) multi outdoor A/C - is a dedicated circuit required?

Ok Boris; let’s say that Bs7671 are the regs and the On-site Guide is considered as an influence towards best practice, so if you wish to choose an alternative method feel free, it’s your design not mine. I just think that it is generally easier to follow best practice as saves a lot of...

EICR/PIR for 2up 2 down Is price excessive given extent and "limitations"

It is at the discretion of the individual as to whether they wish to put their head above the ceiling, so no one size fits all, however regs allow for it not to be done. As for you concern of light fittings, if a sample were checked from below it is usually easy to determine if a JB has been...

EICR/PIR for 2up 2 down Is price excessive given extent and "limitations"

Proper testing and understanding of the results would indicate integrity of the cable, so not always a necessity to see the cable.

EICR/PIR for 2up 2 down Is price excessive given extent and "limitations"

In answer to the last question, yes this is normal. I think you are expecting more bang for bucks? Without being party to the agreement at the time how would you or I know what was agreed and whether the price included a few small remedial that don’t fall upon the EICR?

Power supply for a 5kW (14.6A) multi outdoor A/C - is a dedicated circuit required?

I personally wouldn’t entertain putting it on a ring circuit but I dare say some do.

Power supply for a 5kW (14.6A) multi outdoor A/C - is a dedicated circuit required?

It is a regulation recommendation that any electrical device greater than 2kw is connected via its own circuit. Whilst the item may run at lower than this there are times that it would run at or near too it’s max.

    Odd one

Ouch that’s going to hurt, especially if you’ve only got two of each! You will be cussed.

Do I need a new consumer unit?

You’re quite right, if people were honest had integrity and treated others as they wished to be treated then yes we wouldn’t need any of them.

Do I need a new consumer unit?

Insurance, solicitors, and accountants are pretty much legalised mafia. They charge what they like, do what they want and you except it or get a load of grief. Should I really need any of them, not in an ideal world.
