    New house alarm?

You can go hybrid with Texecom, some wired, some wireless.

    New house alarm?

    Texecom, nothing else to say.

    Suggestions please!

Internal latent defect that starts by causing genuine nuisance tripping and then the device trips and won’t reset to re-energise the circuit. Fusebox are admitting the issue but keeping it under wraps, and not being open enough about the situation. They also demand return via supplier on their...

    Suggestions please!

I obviously misread/misunderstood the op. Sorry. Could you rustle up a "dual stack" unit, out of two narrow single-row boards suitably linked and basically separate, but intimately connected with trunking around them as needed?

    Suggestions please!

Beware Fusebox, there’s a big issue with their AFDDs.

    Suggestions please!

Too many issues with a 3036 these days to allow it to be left as is. IMHO.

    Cable running question

A job like this needs a robust design. If it goes wrong it could be expensive. I would strongly suggest that you sit down and create a formal design and calculations for the job and use it to drive your selection and erection. Remember too, to use the correct rating and colour code for the...

    Energy Class catagories

Interesting stuff I normally stay clear of the energy efficiency stuff and the Ecodesign directive, apart from when dealing with a colleague in the USA. His customers are always looking for ways to justify equipment as compliant, when it isn't. Since being in a wheelchair, I go shopping even...

    Energy Class catagories

The rating probably has something to do with lumens per circuit watt. The more lumens per watt the higher the rating?

    VSD Cable question

Struggling to sleep, so mooching around the internet, and this came along again. Sleeping will be worse tomorrow night as I start on Dexamethasone in the morning! You are probably outside the scope of BS 7671 anyway. The milking machine is probably just that, a machine, so EN 60204-1, BS 7671...

    VSD Cable question

I wouldn't bet on it! A motor overload upstream of a VSD doesn't operate as a motor overload. The drive controls and limits the motor current. There are circuit breakers which look like a motor overload specifically for such applications, though. An overload between the drive and motor is very...

    VSD Cable question

SWA is often virtually transparent when it comes to EMC . SY (good SY) is better than SWA wrt EMC, but, you get the other issues already mentioned with SY. I know that some VSD OEMs state that SWA is not suitable for use between drive and motor. You mention 1 VSD & 3 motors, make sure that the...

    Doubts about Socket testing

The issue is that the parameters of the test equipment and the limits in BS7671 are from the product test. I don’t disagree that a test at the socket outlets is more realistic, but that changes the characteristics. The test equipment is not adequate to identify the difference, that circuit...

    Doubts about Socket testing

Why are you testing the RCD at the socket outlets?

How to connect 20amp to mains

I would be very surprised if that equipment is legal for the UK market. Amazon are renowned for supplying illegal goods via the marketplace and ducking out of responsibility. Which then falls on the buyer, becoming the legal entity responsible for the manufacture and import, and all the legal...

    Earth bonding on street furniture

The picture shows that the wiring is dog rough. The question is simply compliance with the minimum requirements of BS 7671, which it meets. The wiring is behind a locked enclosure and has basic protection over all live parts as far as I can see in the picture. If there is something that I can't...

Anyone recognise this PLC / controller?

@ProDave just remember if you get a new controller you will have to create a programme for it, I'm not sure if the Carel programming software is easily available. Radwell might offer a repair of your unit and, it even might keep the programme intact. I doubt they would guarantee this though...

    Earth bonding on street furniture

Which clause in BS7671 would you be measuring this against? Section 714 disagrees with you.

    Earth bonding on street furniture

My highlighting. It offers the option of basic insulation, barriers, or enclosures, excluding the door. That picture shows basic insulation is present. Thus, unfortunately, it is compliant with BS 7671.

    Earth bonding on street furniture

I am not confusing with misinformation. Read the clause in BS7671.
