    13A sockets for EVs

Get a proper charge point installed, simple. Stop listening to twats trying to sell cars who say they can be charged with a normal socket outlet.

    13A sockets for EVs

JPEL/64 has no choice but to take the opinion that the law will be followed. Same as every similar organisation. If you want more prosecutions speak with your MP and lobby them for tougher controls.

    13A sockets for EVs

A suitable domestic socket is suitable. Just not all sockets are, fact, and the product standard reflects this.

    13A sockets for EVs

Well, building regulations require compliance with BS7671. Building regulations are law. Thus compliance with 7671 is required by all. Insurance companies are picking up on this. More insurance policies require evidence of compliance with 7671 as time goes on. JPEL/64 cannot condone breaking the...

    13A sockets for EVs

I would not be relying upon something, i.e. a product, which has no recognised published product standard. Ergo the use of o-pen protection, while an option under BS7671, unless the device has a DoC and is made to a recognised standard then again this would have to be documented as a departure...

    13A sockets for EVs

The problem with BS1363 sockets overheating is a known issue. It has been recognised by the relevant product standard committee. The issue is that BS1363 sockets have never been designed to carry the load that a typical EV will draw for the duration of the typical full charge. The product...

    Codebreakers book

Codebreakers is fine, IF you use it the way it is intended. You need to read the front matter of the book first.

    C2 or C3

So the FCU acting as the light switch is a spur from the ring, and the socket is a spur off the FCU?

    Codebreakers book

The background for the book is that a contractor was fed up with arguments over codes with their clients. Said contractor eventually got a position of influence and persuaded NAPIT to create a book giving more specific examples of codes, agreed upon by a variety of different groups within the...

    Codebreakers book

Really? So contractors, and college lecturers rank among those in ivory towers for you then? I wish I had an ivory tower. As I know many of the names inside that book personally, I can assure you that many of us were contracting, clients or very close to the “coal face” when that book was...

    Wanted Used and surplus MCCBs

What he is after is not adequately clear. I take it that as the OP is asking for these as part of a business transaction presumably for profit, and not as a spark, the business advertising has been authorised by forum management @Richard-the-ninth as you have taken it upon yourself to deal...

Current which has its origins outside the installation, typically from N or E and then manifested in the installation.

Don’t forget about the possibility for diverted current too.

    22Kw motor isolator

For black/grey it should be circuit current rated, the AC21 rating is not so important because it is for routine isolation for maintenance only, therefore should only be operated when the circuit is not under load. For red/yellow the AC23 rating should be motor/circuit full load current as it is...

    22Kw motor isolator

The isolator should be rated at circuit current. The breaking capacity depends upon the application. If it’s red/yellow then it needs to be able to break full circuit current at AC23. If it’s black/grey then AC21 would be fine.

What type of conduit for outdoors lighting?

£/page BS 7671 is very good value for money. The equivalent in mainland Europe is a lot more money. Also in comparison with other British Standards, it is reasonable value for what you get.

    Surge Protection mandatory Sect 433

This is not “my” interpretation, I am relating to you the official IET, BSI and IEC interpretation. Who do you think are so out of touch, & why? Just making a statement like that is ridiculous. I could make an equally ludicrous statement, I could say that you are out of touch with the correct...

    Surge Protection mandatory Sect 433

How can you be sure that only one time in 15 years has required a n SPD, often random failures are blamed on the equipment, whereas in fact they are due to over voltage. Just remember that if you go past the date of withdrawal of Amd 1 then you will have to list using Amd 1 as a departure, and...
