    High earth loop readings

What's your Ze? What's the R1+R2? Three lead/no trip tests often give higher results due to a lower test current. There's also RCD uplift to take into consideration. It is acceptable to add your measured R1+R2 to your measured Ze for your Zs. But you could always carry out the alternative Zs...

    Volt drop

The 5%/3% is from the source of supply, as Fleeting has pointed out a good number to aim at for a submain is 2% but this isn't set in stone.

    Lighting loops and consumer box...

That might not be possible if the lighting circuits have a shared neutral. What that means is there's a neutral cable that's common to both lighting circuits and will cause tripping issues if on two separate RCBOs. If the circuit trips out when a lamp blows then I would look at upgrading the...

NICIEC Domestic Installer submitting an IPM18C EICR

As long as it contains the basic information shown in the model forms of BS7671 then it is acceptable.

Who can I report this to

That needs sorting immediately. The polarity looks correct looking at the cables within the board so I would suspect reverse polarity coming in from the meter, that needs looking at. The CPCs (earths) chopped off is worrying...

    Changing polarity question

Morris wiring was never brilliant, Joseph Lucas is often referred to as the Lord of Darkness... On a serious note it may need stripping down and the coils looking at.

Was I being unreasonable? EICR Clarifications

My mother in law commissioned and reort through their letting agent for a flat they own in Chelsea. Came back with a few C2's, FI's and the usual C3's. High Zs on some circuits yet R1+R2 and Ze are good. Low IR on some circuits from a global test  but they couldn't gt in to isolate the boiler...

    Cable Size To Summer house

Unless they're growing something in the summer house I doubt it will be hitting 20 amps. Is there any eletric heating? Kettle? Fridge?

    Heat detector placement - skylight

I would be seekig advice from the manufacurer. Some state 300mm and/or 150mm away from walls, light fittings etc. Edges like that aren't mentioned in the installation instructions.

Was I being unreasonable? EICR Clarifications

Not unreasonable to ask for clarification. Seen it so many times on remedials and I now quote additional time to locate the problem if things are not clear. When I complete an EICR I even attach pictures if required for clarification. And why has he put RFC test results in for the cooker radial...

Installing a sub main to DB2

Do you want me to answer that??? 🤣

    Does a DNO 30mA RCD Isolator satisfy 411.4.204 (411.3.2.2)

On a TN system I always use the max Zs for the MCBs rather than the RCD/RCBO as this should easily be achieved on the vast majority of TN systems. The only time I use the RCD max is for TT systems. I would comment, though not necessarily code, that the whole installation could be affected if...

    Landlord EICR and fuseboard shortage

There has been some minor shortages and delays in getting parts and materials however I haven't had to wait more than a week for some parts, the vast majority are available same day.

Running 6mm twin & earth cable.

Yet another regulation that can be read both ways and is ambiguous. TBH I just use fire clips anyway as they help support the cable and trunking when the glue eventually gives up and it peels away from the wall.

Installing a sub main to DB2

So the customer has a potentially dangerous installation but isn't willing to fix it?

    EICR RCD question

That response does read more as a threat. You have had an EICR completed, this is the legal requirement. It does not have to be satisfactory.  Within 28 days the faults identified need to be rectified and paperwork raised accordingly. You do not need a satisfactory EICR, just evidence that...

    EICR RCD question

I'm going to stick my neck out and say 4.18 doesn't even apply in this situation, depending upon the earthing arrangements for the installation. They more than likely mean RCDs with 30mA for additional protection for lighting circuits in a domestic property. This would only normally be coded as...

    Ring final circuit test

Did you test through the socket-outlets or the terminations on the back of the socket-outlets?

    Air Rifles

TBH I would probably look at stripping the barrel off and chucking in a bucket for some electrolysis treatment. I've got an unknown origin .22 that fell into my possession a few years ago, helps me keep my eye in occasionally.

Upgrade of network to cat6 solid copper

Some of those ties need trimming flush... 🧐😂 I prefer to use Velcro wrap on data cables, makes it easier to change things around and reduces the chance of crushing the conductors.
