Quite a few of my local wholesalers now sell empty 'fluorescent' batten shells   in both standard and anti-corrosive for you to wire as you want. About 18 months ago part of a job was to fit 15 double anti-corrosive 6ft fittings with LED tubes and the cheapest option was to buy standard fittings...

Before this gets out of hand.............You state you are a time served electrician with test & inspection skills, this means you should really know this as its such a basic thing ? Now if you were a Diyer or apprentice  then it would be understandable you may not know.

Same here. I can not understand why almost all tradesmen seem to wear these type of trousers but none have the knee pads in.

As pointed out by Evans elec you are meant to remove the paint from around the gland/conduit hole, no one seems to do that these days but you will get better continuity doing that than a banjo. I never understood why so many sparkies religiously bolt a banjo down when it still is relying on how...
