Trying to remove cooker switch...a bit stuck 😕

I had thought about  mentioning that in my post , however i dont normally respond to Diyers and since she/he had  already done the job and had no intention of calling in an electrician i thought lets make sure the cpc's are at least joined. Once again i think its wrong but there is nothing in...

Trying to remove cooker switch...a bit stuck 😕

I agree Dave, but its acceptable to the regs. A slot in washing machine or fridge wedged under the worktop also does not need another point of isolation as the appliances can apparently just be pulled out to turn off :C

    RCD earth potential

When i was an apprentice the old sparks used to lick their thumb and stick it in the lampholder to see if it was live. I never tried it .

Trying to remove cooker switch...a bit stuck 😕

Its not an oven, its a slot in cooker . Although i would always wire an isolator  close its not in the regs you have to

Trying to remove cooker switch...a bit stuck 😕

You have to join the 2 blue wires together. You then join the 2 brown wires together. You then join the 2 earth wires which normally are bare copper with a yellow & green stripe sleeve. So now you have 3 separate connections, each with 2 cables in. Make sure they are tight & make sure...

    Stolen Robin Multifunction Tester

Not a tester, a few years back  we had 2 drills stolen from a van at Waterloo Station. I was working in the Transport Police office that day, so  reported it. I have my postcode scratched on everything. 2 years later i got a call from Southwark Police Station telling me they that the previous ...

    What's the DNO up to?

We looked at a job in Southgate yesterday where the 94 year old ladys CFL's  have all blown, only got 199 volts L to  N & L to E at the supply. Bit of a rush on the way home but i suppose i will have to report this as she wont. Not had this before on one house, or maybe the whole block/phase...

    Rcbo on a tt system

Although is preferable to use double pole  Rcd protection on a TT supply BS7671 does not state you have to, only double pole isolation.

Linking mcb in consumer unit with wire not busbar

If this was a problem i think the house would have burnt down by now, the question  was asked over 4 years ago !

    2 Interesting jobs today

Half 2 and i am home after finishing 2  nice jobs. 1st one an easy board change in a flat with just 4 circuits. I had done a EICR just over a year ago so knew it was ok. I had forgotten about this though, where's  the meter Then i remembered it was out in the hall in a locked cupboard, no...

Todays "how did it ever work" puzzle

I once found  the strappers mixed between the landing 2 way and the hall 2 way. Most of the time it was fine but with all switches in a particular   order the up & downstairs lighting circuits were joined together. I had tested the house a year earlier and missed this. Could it be the...

    12 volt led lights

Thats long enough to blow a lot of Led's if the wrong type of driver/supply is used.

What's wrong with this light fitting???

A few months back CEF had a Led light bulb on display with a bluetooth speaker and remote all in one only a bit bigger than a standard lamp, it sounded great. Not sure  if it was this one, looked similar  ...

Buzzing from CU when added dimmer

I have had a dimmer make a breaker slightly buzz at my own home for 15 years now. Its a two way circuit and the other switch also buzzes. The switch controlled 8 50w 12v halogens with electronic transformers. I swapped the breaker, dimmer and switch  but no difference. I now have 4.5w LED lamps...
