    "mains". Yes, I struggled with that, but you know what I mean.  It seemed wrong writing it, but I couldn't find the right word.

    Thanks. I wonder where I heard they were supposed to be wired to the mains.  Ah well.

    Hi, I'm thinking of installing a wall light in my living room. I think I remember hearing these are supposed to be wired into the mains circuit rather than the lighting circuit. Is that correct? If so, I assume I have to have a fused switch, running off a spur? Are there any other considerations?
