Hi,

I'm thinking of installing a wall light in my living room. I think I remember hearing these are supposed to be wired into the mains circuit rather than the lighting circuit. Is that correct?

If so, I assume I have to have a fused switch, running off a spur?

Are there any other considerations?

Regarding considerations - RCD protection, main and equipotential bonding and possibly employing a competent spark?

All electricity from a supplier (edf, sse british gas etc) would be classed as "mains" electricity.

"mains". Yes, I struggled with that, but you know what I mean.  It seemed wrong writing it, but I couldn't find the right word.
