they are designed for perfectly flat walls, which dont exist, so a bit of movement on the mounting bracket is quite normal. Some times you can tweak the mounting bracket slightly to improve it.

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum and i'm looking for some advice.

I'm fitting a wall light in my bathroom (https://wtlighting.co.uk/wall-lights/dar-cedric-ced0738-polished-chrome-single-wall-light-ip44/).

The fixture feels a bit loose on the bracket, and i'm not sure if it’s an issue with the mounting hardware or something else. Anyone here fitted this model before and something similar?

Any tips would be helpful.

Cheers,
Jayden

(1) Welcome to the forum...

(2) It is always good to seek a second opinion with any concerns you have about anything electrical...

(3) I've never fitted that model to my knowledge..? But it looks like a very common fixing method with a horizontal wall bracket that has two screw that go through holes on the lamp base...

(4) These type of fixings do not use high precision engineered components... The tolerances are normally quite generous... (plus the wall bracket can often be narrower than the lamp base, so it you tighten the fixing screws fully, it can distort the shape of the base!)

(5) Even if it was fixed to a perfectly flat wall, there would still be a bit of bracket pivot wiggle if you give the lamp a poke!

(6) e.g. If you want to try a bit of major, anal, anorak, investigative, wall-lamp, research... You could fix a similar lamp directly onto a nice new suitably sized sheet of MDF board....
So mounted onto a pretty much as smooth as you can get surface, the lamp will never feel 100% tight, due to a mix of fixing hole/screw-size tolerances and/or flexibility of the thin metal used for the lamp base.

(7) As Binky said, sometimes a bit of bending of the wall bracket can create a tighter fit against the wall..

(8) Similar "wobble" issues can be encountered with some ceiling lights!
