    YES, THE FAN HAS DEFINITELY BEEN WIRED TO THE WALL LIGHT. I CAN SEE NO SIGN OF A PERMANENT LIVE. THAT'S WHY I THOUGHT I COULD INTRODUCE A PERMANENT LIVE FROM ELSEWHERE, BUT CLEARLY NOT!

    Sorry for confusion. It is a WC- downstairs, with a basin. There is a wall light above the basin (no ceiling light). The ventilator has been wired to the wall light.

    The fan has the facility to stay on for a couple of minutes after the light has been turned off, but it needs a a permanent live to do this. The wall light switch is outside the bathroom and there's no way of getting an extra wire to it.

    Can anyone help me please? I have an extractor fan in my bathroom that is wired from a wall light. It works fine, but there is no permanent live feed so it does not stay on once the light switch is turned off. It would be too difficult to rewire the feed to the wallight with a permanent live...
