Wiring A Ventilator Fan --- Help!

Can anyone help me please?

I have an extractor fan in my bathroom that is wired from a wall light. It works fine, but there is no permanent live feed so it does not stay on once the light switch is turned off. It would be too difficult to rewire the feed to the wallight with a permanent live. Would I be able to bring a live feed from another point - there is electricity point on the other side of the wall? Would be really grateful if someone could help me with this. Thanks in advance.

you must bring your permanent live and switched live from the same circuit.

no, why do you waznt the fan to stay on?

could you change the switched live at the light end to a permanent feed and fit an automatic fan?

The fan has the facility to stay on for a couple of minutes after the light has been turned off, but it needs a a permanent live to do this. The wall light switch is outside the bathroom and there's no way of getting an extra wire to it.

Theres a possibility that you might have a junction box above the ceiling where you can pick up a new PL, SL & N from,,, isolate the old supply

that is probably where the fan is actually connected, NOT the switch

this is VERY important,

is it a bathroom, as indicated by your first posts,

or is it simply a wc. ?

Sorry for confusion. It is a WC- downstairs, with a basin. There is a wall light above the basin (no ceiling light). The ventilator has been wired to the wall light.

then we can do as I was working towards, and , Andy has said below

that is why I wanted to know if it was a bathroom or wc, it is outside the remit of most diyers to work in a special location, ie, a bathroom,

you can pick up a L N E from another point and fit a PIR to control your fan and allow run on

how good are you at DIY. ?
