none of the lighting circuits in the house have an earth wire.  Looks like I will need to change the fitting.

There are only a live and neutral wire in the lighting feed circuit. 

I have just replaced two kitchen spot lights driven from a single switch.  They work fine and when I test them with a mains testing screwdriver, the metal frames are not live.  ( I checked the mains testing screwdriver works fine)  so all should be well. BUT I have a mains testing pen and I...
