    Structural Survey

Afternoon all, Question regards structural surveys. When surveying commercial buildings for pv, a prerequisite is to get a structural survey done too. I've made a few enquiries but the pricing seems to be all over the place and expensive to boot. Is there a structural surveyor out there that...

    Cable management, commercial roof tops

Containment on the roof (external) I've come across quite a few jobs where the cables are just hanging all over the place. Looks messy and probably not too great for the cables either.

    Cable management, commercial roof tops

Cheers for the replies. Some good ideas. What about trapezoidal roof profile? Hanger bolts, unistrut and tray? Or is there some thing made for the job.

    Cable management, commercial roof tops

Hi, Would be interested to know how folks carrying out commercial jobs manage cables on roofs. Are there specific cable management systems out there, or is most of the CM done using tray/trunking? And if done by tray/trunking, how is it secured to the roof without diminishing water proofing?

    Surge protection

Confusing. So you got to ask yourself. If there's a chance of transient over voltage which could cause the 4 possible outcomes you would have to instal SP devices. How would you prove this? If there's no chance of the 4 possible out comes and a risk assessment has been carried out then there's...

    Surge protection

Yes, I think commercial is different. I'll check the regs out tomorrow. If I can recall, SP needs to be taken into consideration when installing a new circuit into commercial or publicly used premises if it meets certain criteria. The risk assessment I think was to do with domestic properties...

    Surge protection

Thank's for the reply binky, Believe me if not fitting SP is ok I'm good with that. It's just I seem to recall somewhere in the regs about installing new circuits in commercial premises requires SP if certain requirements are met. I'm hoping pv doesn't meet those requirements.

    Surge protection

Hi, Has anyone had experience in fitting surge protection when it comes to pv systems? I'm talking about commercial/public use buildings, 3phase systems. Is there any need to fit surge protection, does the d/c need protected as well as the a/c, is there a preference in fitting type 1 SP, or...
