    Consumer Unit Height

What really gets my back up is that there are regs for this that and the other but its all down to interpretation. Why is it that the authorities are quite happy to make rules they can beat us up with at a later date but dont have the balls to make a straight forward specification in case they...

    Consumer Unit Height

Starting a new build shortly - 2 bed terraced houses. As I understand, although nothing is stated in the electrical regs or part P, under part M the consumer unit needs to be installed between 450mm and 1200mm as with other accessories, is this correct ? I've subbied on new builds which have...

    Ouch. My knee.

I have the same problem of the knee pads being to low. I got some braces to hold the trousers higher up my waist. Look a bit Simon Cowell at times but on days when I'm crawling around a lot it makes life that bit easier

Speak for yourself sweetie :x I used to have a HTC, biggest piece of crap ever, the only good thing about it was the 110 quid I got off mazuma for it.

    Mobile Phones

I have a Blackberry Bold in a hard leather case on my belt. Gets a bit dusty on the camera lense sometimes but other than that, no problems. I fancy an Iphone but hear that the batteries don't last very long and I can easily chew through a battery in a day on any phone.

    Panel Heater discoloured

Hi Guys, I popped into a rental yesterday and saw a panel heater which had been fitted (by A.N. Other) in December which was turning the wall above it brown, upon a closer look I saw that the heater grill was also stained brown. The tennant insisted they had not left anything on it to cause...

    cu change fun

Yes its a *****, however it would be a bigger ***** if a customer said they wouldn't pay for rectification and you couldn't connect a circuit because it would be too dangerous but you had already ripped out the board. Its a choice I make, yes it takes me longer but I have no problems sleeping...

    cu change fun

CU changes are a nightmare, however I explain clearly up front that if there are any problems with existing circuits that the customer will have the option of paying for rectification or disconnection. I also point out that the landing light is a likely problem and I give the place a once over...

    low voltage downlights

Yes, you can put a seperate rcd in its own enclosure just covering the light circuit. However you would be missing the opportunity to install a new CU. If it was an old 3036 then you would probably be short of adequate bonding and earthing anyway.
