i think you have a juction box feeding your lights, its how they use to do it instead of the loop in method. this is the way im reading you post anyway. i assume you only have 1 t&e at light and 1t&e at switch?

Usually 1 way light Live feed in common and L1 would be to the light. Neutrals could be looped in a terminal block. L2 is for 2 way lighting and left unused

im using 3 core butal, I just didnt mention the earth cos i know where they go just not sure about the live and neutrals

do you mean twin and earth or three core and earth. im not 100% sure what you mean to be honest.

just regular butal with a live earth and neutral, maybe its called twin and earth, i'm not a competent electrician so not familiar with all this :)

If you do as I said with live from consumer unit to 'common', live to light in 'L1' and join neutrals with one of these.

As Mr Alastair Meerkat would say "simples"

oh butyl.

mayb do as apache says 1 live in common, other live in L1 and link neutrals.

Sounds like you are using the switch as the junction point.

Live from board to common of switch.

neutral from board into terminal strip

live(brown or red) from light to L1 of switch.

Neutral (blue or black) to same bit of terminal strip as board neutral.

Earths sleeved to the back box earth point or into their own bit of terminal strip.

Edited to say ...... i should concerntrate on replying to post rather than watching a moron on question time & maybe I wouldn't be late in replying.
