10amp surge protected extension lead, what can I plug in?

Hello there,

I purchased a Masterplug 4 socket surge protected extension lead listed as 10amps max load. My question is is this ok to plug into it?...

- PC Tower (240v and plug fitted with 13A fuse)

- Monitor (240v and plug fitted with 0.8A fuse)

I am given to understand that 10amps = approx 2300-2400watts so as long as my equipment does not exceed that load then it should be ok?

Any help would be appreciated...

you are correct, it's not about the plug fuse, it's the total load that matters

i do have a follow up question... can plugging in a lead with a 13amp fuse fitted into a monitor that only requires a 0.8Amp fuse cause the monitor to blow after a certain amount of time?

Only if it develops a fault and the smoke starts to escape

it won't cause the monitor to blow, but may fail to protect it. I would swop the fuse for a 3 amp
