Hi all,

I've got my 2391 practical tomorrow and I am having a last minute look through my books. Am I right in saying I'll have to do a phase rotation test at the main board and also the 3 phase socket?

I think I'm alright with the rest of it all, just the time factor that worries me most.

IIRC they have several boards

A visual inspection board with about 12 faults

A 3ph motor circuit with a contactor

A ring radial board where you do (R1+R2)

A ring radial board with faults

A live board to test for safe isolation and Ze tests

it was 7 years ago now and my memory is fading ..... fast

Only guessing here but, I would think that they switch phases between board and socket, or cross a phase and a neutral or some such thing. As I say, it is only a guess but a good way to check that you know what you are doing/testing. good luck anyway :coat
No, there are no sneaky faults in assessment 4 (periodic), phase rotation check is required on 3ph DB.

Assessment 1 - visual inspection, find 12 faults in 30mins

Assessment 2 - IR find & identify 2 seperate faults in 20mins

Assessment 3 - Two seperate Zs tests in 10mins

Assessment 4 - Periodic on 3ph DB with sph sub-board 2 hours

Hi again

Thanks for the replies. I was a bit nervous this morning only to find out that no one was trying to catch me out and the college really wanted to know if I could do the testing safely and properly rather than pass an exam about it.

I did my 2391 at Brian Scaddans and today's calm and relaxed experience is just one more reason (as if I needed one) to recommend his college.

I came straight home for a nice :coffee , but what I really need is a gin and tonic smiley
