Hi All,

First post on here. So thanks for reading.

I am in the middle of renovating my flat and in my master bedroom i would like to control the lights like you find in a hotel.

I have 3 lights in the room.  1 pendent, and 2 bed side lights.

I then have 3 switching locations.  1 by the door, and the other 2 on either side of the bed.

I'm trying to find three suitable 3 gang switch intermediate to sort all this out for me, but cant for the life of me find a manufacture.

Can i build them up my self?  any suggestions or links to products would be greatly appreciated.

All the best

Tom

Sorry, just to follow up.  I would like all 3 switch locations to be able to control all 3 lights. So both my girlfriend and I can lie in bed and control all lights.

thanks

Hi and welcome,

MK Grid Plus will do what you need. You will need to build the switch yourself.

The easiest way would be to use Click Mode

Buy a 3 gang light switch and 3 intermediate switches

Remove the switch modules, putting the intermediate ones in the 3 gang plate and the 2 way ones in the 1 gang plates

You will now have ...

1 x 3 gang intermediate and

3 x 1 gang 2 way switches

Another vote for Click Mode.

But to be honest do you really need to control all 3 from all 3 locations?

We have 3 way switching from the main light (by the door and from each bedside) but then bedside lights are only switched from their respective bed side.  that makes things a whole lot simpler, the only intermediate needed is the 1G switch by the door, the others are 2G 2W and that means you canchoose any make of switch you like.

As Essex says if you use grid switches you can make up whatever you want. MK are one of several manufactures that do grid switches. https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Wiring_Accessories_Menu_Index/A_White_All/Grid_System/Grid_System_3/index.html  But I think the Click deco range have a better choice of finishes if you are not after just plain white. http://www.alertelectrical.com/?search&kw=click&c=-&pg=1 Have you got it wired correctly for how you want it to work.

Click

Saves all that yoke plate malarky

Just saying
Agreed, have dumped MK for Click on grid now, plus I can put 3 Click modules in a 1 gang plate, with MK it's only 2.

Ok, the click modules need to be screwed into place admittedly. on the front plate, but overall I feel that they are easier to assemble and install.

Hi All,

thanks very much for your reply's. its greatly appreciated!!!

I'm a complete novice, although my electrician has wired it up correct (i hope) would any one be able to do me one last favour?  and almost give me a shopping list of the 3 gang plates i need and 3 intermediate switches?

i am installing switches like this at the moment:

LAP 3-Gang 2-Way 10AX Light Switch Brushed Stainless Steel
thanks again

Tom

If you have an electrician that is wiring it you need to ask him what you need as there will be several ways of doing what you want specifically.
