300w inverter 12dc to 230vac

Is it possible to use a 4ft 36W battern lamp of a 300 w inverter dont think so but not sure or what size is required to strick the lamp

all so what power does the lamp use to stricke up got advice wecome as not familiar with set up

BTW do you mean batten lamp holder, ie filament lamp or 4' linear flouro?

Lets put it like this I HOPE this calc is close enough, coz I'm installing 2 off 6' 70W fittings off a transformer, and should get power to them tomorrow so I'll let you know!

I mean a 4' linear flouro were dose the 1.5 come from sidewinder as i connected it up today in the works van and did not strick up but when i plug it into the mains thay came on ok then tried a normal lamp holder and it work ok off the inverter

1.5 is the factor applied to lamp watts to work out how much current to allow for discharge lighting. Its in the BRB somewhere

They are a bit funny those inverters I had one untill it broke think that was 300 watt but it would not power my makita charger with the fan in but would power my dewalt charger. So it would not suprise me if one would not power a flourescent fitting.

The pure sine wave inverters will drive anything so long as they are correctly rated. They are however considerably more expensive.

The majority of inverters out there are 'modified sine wave' inverters - basically outputting a square wave, and should only really be used for things that aren't fussy about the shape of the incoming waveform like incandescent lamps, heaters, and perhaps universal motors.

Taken the 4' linear flouro out an put in E27 bulk heads lights sorted now but thanks all for the advice
