On our estate we have a number of SON 70w Floodlight with photocells, we also have CCTV , I was told that there is now a White-Lux Bulb you can buy where you can do a swap with the 70w SON-E with Ignitor to improve the quailty of the light.

Having looked at the prices they are about

Hi the alternative bulb is Metal Halide which gives a whiter light, can sorce them from an electrical wholesaler, Newey and Eyre or City electrical factors spring to mind.

MBFU lamps or white Son might be what your looking for.

And can you just stick a Metal Hailde with a screw fitting into the same fitting that had a SON -E ?

And what is an SON - E Ignitor bulb ?

Sorry to ask but a novice at this :|

SON-E ignitor bulb has an integral ignitor as opposed to the version that requires an external one built into the fitting. SON-E & metal halide ignitors are not compatible as the current has to be regulated better in MH to avoid shifts in colour temperature.
