In the office again.

10 doors away from the house -3 mins :) :) :)

80A service fuse blown!

tails into 80A 100mA RCD, then to 70`s Wylex 6 way. 1 fuse carrier badly cracked (not recent), 3 others with wire-wire rather than fuse-wire.

Customer has new oven on kitchen floor, next to old one. He was in the middle of changing it. No 3063s blown, no obvious signs of a big bang on the exposed 6mm.

they paid for the callout - Whilst doing it, I wired the oven & hob a bit better than he was managing to do, and made a number of comments about the board & RCD. Initially was going to have us do it in April (called the house 5 mins after I got in - "When can you fit me in? ASAP?) :) :)

There MUST have been a big bang on the 6mm, and he chopped it off before I got there - only option I can envisage.........

Think his Mrs. gave his some stick when I left (the board was in the survey when they bought the house 6 yrs ago......."Well, it was working....."

Grrrrrrr :( ...........but ker-ching:) :) :) :) :) It`ll be safe for them and the kids now......

My next door neighbour has a mess of a wylex rewireable with extra dbs from it

i keep telling her it needs to get sorted

i have refused to do any work in the property until it gets sorted....

she is having the garage half converted to an office soon...........the handyman builder is going to do the electrics

just checking my insurance is good !!!!!!

My own house is a right mess. Thats one of the reasons I started training to become a spark. The bloke we bought it off was a spark too (honest). It's a right mess.

There was a neon lit switch on the side of the chimney breast (neon permenantly on), thought this was strange. After removing cladding traced wire back to fuse box, Ok. Traced other side of switch and ended up at the... fuse box, but on a different fuse. To this day still don't know WHY!!!

bad day explodeVery bad. It's now been about six years since I found it, and nobody can shed any light on why.

I think it must have been a warning for him: Neon off = power cutbad day explode

Only reason I can think of is maybe one of the mcb's was tripping and he didn't want something like the freezer going off.
