As I sat in the garden today , a drink, a book to hand , the sun smiling down from a clear blue sky , its warming rays relaxing the body ..I drift into sleep to the sound of bees going about their business .

Then I'm alerted by a bygone sound  ....  the drone of  four powerful piston engines coming in waves ...getting louder ...until ...heaving into view in that clear blue sky and roaring overhead ,came the incongruous but stirring sight  of an Avro Lancaster Bomber in full WW2 camouflage  .....then the reverberating sounds of it's four Merlins wafting back  as it lumbered towards the Cosford Air Show .

Wow  :Salute

Lucky !....LUCKY!!!You're not kidding !!!!      It dropped a bouncing bomb into the local park pool which then bounced into the reservoir ...bounced over our house .. off the church roof  and demolished an elevated section of the M6  in North B,ham FFS !!!!       Who are these guys ?

The nearest I get to flying is 3 axis microlights, not really the same league.

My older brother was part of the EOD team that recovered a fair number of the test bouncing bombs off of the coast at Reculver back in the late 90's. On display at various places up and down the country now. I remember asking how sure they were that they were duds. He said "Fairly sure.............". He was a Captain so I guess his contribution was "Come on lads put your backs into it!". Seriously, he loved it and got on the radio and telly too giving interviews:

many a time down the A15 in Lincolnshire i  have been blessed to see the red arrows practicing on my way to LIncoln  MAGIC

was in a meeting i n my Birtish Aerospace days on top floor of office block. It was air day in Plymouth and for reasons unknown to me we had a fly past by a Spitfire. It flew straight at the office we were in before pulling up - a Spitfire head on is quite a scary sight, was waiting for the machine gun flashes and bullets through the window.

Typhoon and Tornado are built about 200m from my daughters house.  we get some F good free displays!

And when he stands the Jet on end and lets the clutch out!  **** ME its awesome.    when the air shows are on in the North of our fair country the Red Arrows rest at the local airport....this one is in my Sons back garden...more free shows

Just....proud to be British

used to build some bits for Tornado. Have seen one decide to climb several thousand feet in a vertical climb, impressive, very impressive. Still not as good as the old Lightning or Vulcan on full throttle though.

Yes I also saw a few planes in the sky tonight leaving from Cosford.

Not as exciting, but there is some guy around here who has a jet pack thingy strapped to his back along with a parachute that flies above the houses on this estate. He takes off from the nearby farmers fields.

Bit annoying that he always does it at about 8pm when the kids are settling for bed time.

Just waiting for the pigs to get him :slap

and i do mean real ones as its a pig farm

Nothing like it, (5 Hours in to going for PPL) Will be a lot poorer for it, but you can't take it with you!

Tried a trial and now hooked.

never tried microlights but I fly paragliders well I did up until 3 weeks ago when I had a collapsed wing and hit the ground  and broke my L1 and L3 vertebra

it will be a while before I get back to work

I feel for you - I don`t HAVE my L4/5 anymore......Actually, that`s a lie. They gave `em to me in a glass bottle :(

If the pain is REALLY bad - ( and it doesn`t work well for 15% of people) - try TENS.

If you do - the trick is to get the pads in the right place - else it won`t do the job properly.

And, be aware that some of the companies supplying TENS equipment provide "aquagel" as a conductive lubricant.....you can get quite nasty burns if you use it...........

Thanks kme got a tens will give it a go. boredom is hurting more cant do much and got loads to do
