Hi all

Need to up grade 3 core 6mm swa up to 10mm can anyone see any problem with running  second

6mm swa in parallel with the original to help keep cost down. Your comments please.

What you going to do at the ends?? Be awful messy,,,, Can it really be that much more for 10mm?? You could always sell the first [old] bit for scrap.... What sort of length you need? Thinking on it, by the time you go and buy enclosures and stuff to go at the ends it will be cheaper to get the 10mm. How you cost your time?? You will be fiddling about and it will always look crap.....

john..

It might be irrelevant now but the regs do not state you

cannot do it but if parallel conductors are in use then

the value of Iz should be the sum of the current carrying

capacities of the parallel conductors. That being said,

what happens if a termination on one of the conductors fails?

This might be remote but;.......

As Evans said, this is normally a practice for much larger

sizes.
